Help with necro profession and skills

I currently have a level 20 R/Mo and a level 10 W/Mo character ingame. The latter was started since I conquered all the missions with my primary character and I wanted to get a taste of the game from a different perspective.

I am pondering the possibility of changing one of these players secondary profession to necro, but I am not experienced enough to understand the potential benefits with regards to your profession.

I was hoping a R/N or W/N could comment on how they like or dislike their characters and possibly share what skills I should look into if I decided to make a change in the future.

For everyone else, what do you consider 2-3 must have skills as a necro and which line (blood, death, etc.) has the most beneficial skills if I had to pick one skill set?

Well, the necro is a very versatile class, but I think that generally most people go with Blood and Curses as the two best lines. Only because the Death line you kind of have to be seriously committed to making a Death necro if you go down that path. There are a few exceptions where there are a few skills that can supplement Blood or Curses using Death skills, but Blood and Curses are the most versatile.

I'd say for a R/N you should use Curses mostly. That is, if your Ranger is heavily into Marksmanship and/or Expertise. Curses will help you lower your target's armor, make them more susceptible to damage, and even increase the damage they take when they get hit. So they're all good choices for a Ranger trying to maximize his bow damage.

With a W/N, probably Blood. Curses would work well too, though, for the same reason as a R/N. But with a warrior, you'd use Blood magic the same way a W/M uses healing, but the extra benefit is that while you're healing yourself, you're hurting the other guy.

As for best skills in the necro line? Well, most Necros have Vampiric Gaze on them, because it is life drain and healing in one ranged shot. It's in the Blood line. Other than that, there are tons of useful Necro skills to help you out with whatever you want to do. Just keep in mind that alot of the Necro skills (especially the Death line) use alot of Energy, and as a Ranger or Warrior primary, you're going to be short on that. So pick skills that are low in energy requirement and/or are occasional-use lifesavers.
