Can you salvage back a weapon component?

I want to apply a sword pommel to my sword, but I'm only a couple missions away from lions arch, and i know i'll end up getting a dragon sword. If i apply the pommel to my current sword, and try to salvage it later, will I get the pommel back?

It's random, so you may or may not. If there's other upgrades on it you will still only get one back or regular salvage material

With the normal Salvage Kit, you won't get it. With the Expert Salvage Kit, there's a % chance, so it's not guaranteed, but I guess you could always buy a new pommel later.

So if i were to apply a pommel and a hilt onto my sword, and when i successfuly salvage it i'd only get 1 of the 2 upgrades?

What's the best pommels you guys have seen before?
