I read about this build created by Freyas that is centered around fragility, but I wanted to improve on it. here is a link to the original:

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/content/freyas-theme-builds-2-id1111.phpFragility

FRAGILITY is a hex that does 5-28 damage for 8-18 seconds everytime someone suffers or recovers from a condition. This build takes advantage of this and the "on fire" condition effected by the elementalist spell MARK OF RODGORT, which sets the target on fire for 1-3 seconds everytime it suffers from fire damage. The basic idea is to use CONJURE FLAME to add fire damage to the weapon, cast MARK OF RODGORT and FRAGILITY on the target, and do massive armour ignoring damage due to FRAGILITY, which applies 2*(5-28) damage every time the target is hit by our fire weapon. We set our ILLUSION attribute to 12+2, and FIRE MAGIC to 2, in order to make sure that MARK OF RODGORT only sets the target on fire for 1 second when it gets hit with fire damage to maximize the damage from FRAGILITY. The rest of the build is centered around energy management and supplementary damage.

When MARK OF RODGORT is active, this build is able to achieve 90-100 damage per second. However there are a few drawbacks. First, the duration of Mark of Rodgort is only around 10 seconds due to our low FIRE attribute. We can't raise this because we must have the on-fire condition trigger every second, not every 2 or 3 seconds. But the recast time for MARK OF RODGORT is 20 seconds. This means that for 10 seconds after MOR ends, we can't do much damage. Moreoever, if someone dispells the CONJURE FLAME enchantment, our weapon won't be able to do fire damage. And the recast time for CONJURE FLAME is 60 seconds, which means we'll be out of commission for a while.

To try to improve on this build, I offer a few ideas.

The original build uses the following skills:
Mesmer/Elementalist
Illusion Magic: 14(12+2)
Inspiration Magic: 13(12+1)
Fire Magic: 2

Fragility: Illusion Magic
Mark of Rodgort: Fire Magic
Conjure Flame: Fire Magic
Glyph of Lesser Energy: Unlinked
Energy Drain{E}: Inspiration Magic
Power Drain: Inspiration Magic
Phantom Pain: Illusion Magic
Ether Feast: Inspiration Magic

but instead of using Conjure Flame, we can just use a fire wand that automatically applies fire damage. Due to our low Fire Attribute, we won't be able to have a high - damage wand, but since most of our damage comes from Fragility, this won't matter that much. The benefit is that we'll free up a skill slot, and we won't be vulnerable to dispell enchantment. Secondly, I would add in the skill ARCANE ECHO. When this spell is cast, Arcane Echo is replaced with the next spell cast. If we cast it before Mark of Rodgort, we'll be able to essentially cast another Mark of Rodgort IMMEDIATELY AFTER the first one ends, about 10 seconds or so. This means that we can reduce the down time inherent in Freya's original build. The other changes I would make to the build is replace GLYPH OF LESSER ENERGY with ENERGY TAP, since the difference in energy profit is only about 2 per cast, and the recast time for ENERGY TAP is 5 seconds shorter. MOREVER, the new build would replace ETHER FEAST with DRAIN ENCHANTMENT because the new build requires more energy (with arcane echo), so we lose the ability to self-heal, but we're able to be more versatile by removing enchantments.

so the new build would look like:

1. FRAGILITY
2. MARK OF RODGORT
3. ARCANE ECHO
4. ENERGY DRAIN (E)
5. ENERGY TAP
6. POWER DRAIN
7. DRAIN ENCHANTMENT
8. PHANTOM PAIN

well that's it. I welcome any thoughts and suggestions.

conjure flame doesnt add fire damage, it improves fire damage. It can only be use dif the caster is using a weapon that already deals fire damage. Butu conjure flame isnt the main focus of this build so it is still wise to take it off for another skill.

I say you have too much energy draining skills, if youre in trouble ether feast always helps. you can take off energy tap since you already have drain, and put on ether feast.

Also Conjure phantasm is really a good spell if you have illusion magic upped, so why not drop drain enchantment and add conjure phantasm for those situations where they un-hex fragility

those are great points, i was thinking of adding conjure phantom, both for damage and to stack more hexes so that fragility doesn't get dispelled, but I'm very worried about energy management for this build - ARCANE ECHO takes 15 energy, and MARK OF RODGORT takes 25 energy. Ideally, this build wants to cast MARK OF RODGORT as much as possible, so we can inflict the 64+ damage per second due to fragility. I just don't think energy drain by itself, or even energy drain + power drain + energy tap, is going to cut it. Haven't tried out the build though, if anyone has tried this sort of build, please let me know how the energy situation pans out.
