1280x1024 and 5700LE

Does the game automatically limit resolution? I try and set it to 1280x1024 and it won't take. It stays at 1024x768.

1) are you using an LCD or a CRT?

2) does that card support higher on the desktop resolution?

CRT and it does support real high res but I got it working finally. I set image quality in the card settings at highest and then put it up to 1280x1024. I don't know how makes a difference in res but it did.

FYI: 1280x1024 is a 5:4 LCD resolution

1024x768, 1280x960, 1600x1200 etc are 4:3 CRT resolution

That is good information. I never realized the ratio difference! Taht explains why a lot of games in the past few years (C&C Generals) has 1280x960, but NOT 1280x1024.

I hadn't calculated the aspect ratio. But despite that I prefer the 1280x1024. For me its a balance of fitting more on the screen while keeping things looking nice. If this makes any sense. I only wish I could play diablo 2 at 1280x1024.
