OK, I'm a total noob, so please bear with my stupid questions. And this is likely a stupid question.

OK, I'm a R/E11. Up to this point in time, I've been piling all my attribute points into Beast Mastery and Marksmanship. But, after reading GWOnline's Guide on Expertise (http://www.gwonline.net/page.php?p=130) I decided to plough some points into that category.

Well, I did that (up to Rank 4), and my skills (Power Shot, Dual Shot, Ignite Arrows, etc, etc) are still at base cost (10). Shouldn't they be 8? What gives? Where am I being dumb?

Thanks,
Zed Zasada

EDIT: N/M. The skills bar still displays the base cost, but you actually use the modified cost. It would be great if ArenaNet changed the displayed cost to reflect the modification...

I agree it might be handy but tbh I just know the extent of my expertise on skills. I mean if you had change in status for expertise should they devise it for ALL changes? If you use certain nature rituals you increase the cost of spells. Everyone affected would then see their bar change etc.

yes i too am pissed that the decreased cost doesn't show. honestly, is there any point at all in showing an energy cost that DOES NOT APPLY TO YOUR CHARACTER? is it like, for nostalgia's sake, or what?

It isn't for "nostalgia purposes"... It is just that showing the modified energy cost means changing TEXT to VARIABLES in the description of the skills, which might be complicated at this point of game development. Maybe they will implement that when they make a major update, who knows? (the programmers do... hehehhe)

Most other games do it this way (NWN, etc). In fact, we could make both camps happy. Have a "base" and "modified" cost. So it would read: "10/8" or something like that.

It does not show, but it does work, at 4% per skill level. I am level 20 now and I have 10 skill level in expertise. My skills that cost 10 energy now cost 6. My 15 energy skills cost ten. Good stuff.

I tried jacking the attribute up enough to get a 50% reduction but it cost way to many points. 13 points in Expertise is costly.

yeah imo the break point for expertise unless you use alot of skills bound to it is 10 (9 if you want to use a rune to hit 10) this gives you a 40% decrease, thats - 2 energy cost for every 5 energy in the normal cost so concussion shot (25 energy) costs 15 instead, with druid armour on for 28 + energy that is a nice skill to use.
