I noticed that the moa birds attack much faster than my wolf and was wondering if they are more effective at disrupting spell/skills and causing conditions such as bleeding. What's a more effective pet, a lvl 17 moa bird or a lvl 17 wolf? Just curious. Thanks in advance.
Thats very interesting. I can see the advantages of a pet that just attacks fast. But no one knows the hard core numbers yet.

First off you have indicated that you have used a wolf from pre-searing (I assume that's what you mean by pre-Ascalon). This would mean that you have never used a Moa Bird before (only available post-searing, although you may argue that Striders and Moa Birds are the same) and that your observation that your pet tanks better than most other pets is based on merely watching other ranger pets in action. In either case it is not first-hand experience.
HomelessBob: I have used both a moa bird and a wolf. The moa bird does attack faster than the wolf so if you like to use pet caster interrupt skills you might find the bird to your liking. For cripple and other similar conditions pet skills, I find that even the bear (slower attack rate than the wolf) suffices. I found the wolf however to be better tank than the bird - I'm unsure whether this is due to higher AL or hitpoints but I'm sure we'll have the information eventually.
In summary, the "more effective" pet depends on how you define 'effective'. For myself I like a companion that can take tank for me if need be, so I've been using the bear, which seems to do this the best of the pets I've tried (stalker, moa bird, wolf, lynx).
