i'm currently planning a ele/monk to be used as a pure healer.
this might sound weird but i chose ele only for the energy storage.
I'm going to use healing and energy storage as my primary skills and then probably put some into protection.

Any thoughts?
... I have the feeling that i'm missing something, are there any drawbacks in having monk as seconday if I'm not into divine favour? :muddle: :confuse:

Yes, you are missing a primary attribute of the monk - Divine Favor. This helps with healing and other skills.

i know about that but it doesn't make a THAT big difference, (3*12 is the max while not using divine favour spells) but as i stated in my post im not planning to put any skills into divine favour anyways

I think of an Ele/Monk as more of a secondary healer, because no Divine Favor is a big drawback. On paper, it seems as if the extra energy can make up for this, but when it hits the fan and you are frantically healing your party, you will consistently be at low energy, from 10-15. At this point, you simply cannot heal for as much as a primary monk, and you no longer have the advantage of the greater energy.

if you use energy storage, you can utilize skills like ether prodigy and ether renewal to regain energy very quickly.

yep can be worthwile when you go with high mana ae spells in the right team setup but in a mix up group you really will miss some punch . tried a build with ether prodigy once and it was nice to have loads of mana but my healing was way too weak for the group ( in PVE it is a viable option though)

Hmmm.

How about a Necro/Monk as a primary healer?

I'm trying this combo out but I'm still a little uncertain if it'll work at higher levels. Without Divine Favor, or it's boost to Divine Boon, my heals will be smaller than a primary Monk, but my Soul Reaping will definitely keep my energy up.

But I'm concerned that not having Divine Favor will cripple me in situations where time is short and a really big heal is absolutely necessary to prevent a major wipeout.

Now I've played a healer type in UO, EQ, DAoC, WoW and a bunch of other games so I'm very familiar with the job. But if the lack of Divine Favor is crippling then I'll just go ahead and roll a primary Monk.

Any advice would be welcome.
