View Full Version : Is pyromancers armor better than elementalists for early game players?

Hey, I've been using the elementalist 30def armor set ever since I got it, and recently got the pyromancers set when I got to piken. The pyromancer i got was 15def and another 15 vs fire only... I'm somewhat assuming I should just stay with the elementalist set? I just want to hear anyone's confirmation... I might be wrong :)
Thanks!
this game rocks!

There's a pryomancer's armour at ascalon city with 30 armour and 15 to fire attacks. I generally go with pyro's armour, seeing that so many charr use fire skills, but if you are getting it, get the ascalon city's one, NOT the piken square one.

In ascalon city there's 2 armorers, Corwen is the one you want for the better armor.

You can salvage the armor you had crafted. Forget the stupid extra stats. Save your cloth and just get the regular Elementalist armor, it's like 1/4 the cost in materials, and 90% of the mobs will be Archer/Shadow Damage/Holy Damage making fire Resistance nigh useless till you get to the desert, at which time you'll be 3 armor's down the road anyway.

I disagree since i have gotten the Pyromancers armor the charr Do a hell of a lot less damage to me then normally. I've noticed alot of areas the charr are at has to deal with alot of the quests in and around piken square. I'm happy with my armor and money isn't that big of a deal for me.
In otherwords if you have the money to spend get the armor

Yeah and when you get out of Ascelon noob land there's no more charr, and no real fire casters for quite some time. You may get hit with an Incendiery arrow from time to time, but that's it. Trust me, the grand majority of mobs between Yaks bend all the way to Amnoon Oasis are Archer/Melee and Holy Casters. Even the scorpions you'll see throwing fire at you are actually doing Necro damage, it's why they hit so hard, it's armor piercing.

It's not like cloth is extremly hard to get or whatnot. After fooling around with various armours, I STILL had over 100 cloth. It's absurbly easy to get.
In the early parts of kytra, there are fire weilding mobs, so it isn't that useless, but it hardly matters if you get that or the elementalist's armour early on.

For me it was a matter of conserving my resources, and not having to farm for more when I could be PvP'ing. I think you'll be wishing you had all that cloth when you need to create your final armor set.

I doubt it. I have close to 200 now, and I hardly even farm for it.
I'm considering wasting it for another armour.

Excuse me for being in noob land but for my purposes I was giving the person who asked the question my opinion... If you don't need or use it.. don't get it
I managed to grab a 30 def pyro armor almost right away post-searing, thanks to heavy material farming pre-searing plus trading some stuff I had stashed. A lot of the charr in the first areas use fire damage and/or exploding arrows, and I feel like its made a big difference in things overall.

You really don't need to spend the extra cash on pyro, I got up to druids on armor from collectors (the 21 armor pieces.) It isn't exactly difficult and armor isn't super imporatant for an ele.
I suggest spending money on the pyro set. Cloth and scales are ridiculously easy to get and if u go outside the city and kill some things u can easily not waste time shopping and just go buy it from the material traders. Its cheap.
Until Yaks Bend pyro armor rules. After Yak and into the mid and late stage the signifigance drops a bit. I finshed the game in the Elementalists AR60 without hassle.
My two cents is that the Aeromance Armor is probably best in game for us although I dont wear it. Why? Becasue Lightening damage has 25% AR penetration and the Aero suits foils that nicely.
Good Luck!
