hammer builds

I recently created a warrior and I plan on using a hammer. My question is what is a good secondary slass to complement my hammer skills. I tried a W/E build but found it hard to keep my life at a healthy level, and most of the hammer skills aren't available until higher levels..

Are theyre anyother viable hammer builds out there (PvE and PvP), and was I doing something wrong with my W/E (finding it difficult to solo w/henchies)?
