Riverside farming without the best skills movie!

Hey guys, I thought I'd share my newbie kind of farming I do with my monk. I am in the desert, but not yet strong enough to farm there.

I have ventari's refuge armor, so it's far from what most level 20's have. So what's this post/movie about?

Just to show how it's possible to still make decent money / runes with some of the standard skills and less standard ones used for smiting monks (farming).

The most you can solo is 8 justs at a time, 6 being average and 8 being a little harder.

As in the movie, you'll notice the first 6 I pull and then move on to the next 6. That's 12 in under 2 minutes if you rush it and don't lag while recording :)

Ahead of that is a few undead and an undead boss. Just before the undead boss is 4 chests.

4 minutes for around 20 dead bodies, 12 being justs and 4 chests. Minimal of 2 runes per run and can make up to 10k an hour with this basic tactic. Just keep rinsing and repeat over and over for a full hour.

Sell everything, except the runes. You'll find you will have so many runes that you will eventually have to trade them off or sell them to merchant. So anyway, here's my gift to the noob community from a noob himself :) ty

What secondary does that come from? It looks (and sounds) like a Mesmer skill, but I don't see it listed anywhere. Where did you get it and what does it do?

Also, where did you get Zealot's Fire if you are only as far as the desert? I was under the impression it was only available from Droknar's Forge after the desert.

Any help you can give on these two would be greatly appreciated! If you want to catch me in game, look for "Zurg Avec Fromage". (Yes, I know what it means in French)

I also wonder what this "arcane armour" spell is, just out of curiosity. And I agree, looks and "feels" mesmer anyway, but couldn't find that symbol anywhere.

Oh, and about "Zealots Fire"... Elites aint the only spells you can grab from a boss... :)

Do you happen to know where such boss might be found, or should I just keep an eye out (assuming this a somewhat common spell used by bosses)?

Thanks for the heads up regardless... I finally got a SoC and have it equipped just in case I find something I want. Hopefully I'll track that one down soon as it is one of the skills I need for this build! :)

I don't know by heart which bosses that casts it, so best is just to keep the eye open. But start by studying normal mobs, cause the bosses version casts the same spells as the normal version of the mobs.

Zealot's Fire can be got from Augory Rock from a quest NPC and Balthazar's Aura can be got from Fisherman's Haven from a quest NPC too. I am sorry for all my mistakes in my post.

I will post from another thread elsewhere that I made that will perhaps improve on the NOT so (elite) riverside farming.

Secondary warrior is popular, bonnati's defense or whatever it's called (can't remember the name off the top of my head) give you energy after you spam the two smites (Balth aura + wrath).

I was able to aquire all the skills before riverside I believe, except zealot's fire. If you do not go warrior, then mesmor seems to be popular for the arcane echo/echo nastiness. If you have tons of mana and pull loads of mobs, you can spam up to 3 times Balth Aura for around 60-70 damage a second for ten seconds. Execting this is however difficult and does require healing hands or mark of protection, so it's probably out of the question.

The skills in my movie are somewhat not as effective as a new build I tried out (using some other easy skills to aquire).

I ran directly to fishermans haven to get the quest for Balthazar's Aura. I'm not 100% sure, but now that I think about it Zealot's Fire can be aquired from the desert at a quest in augory rock. Regardless, it's a little less (maybe even a big less) from droknar's forge. Zealot's fire is a great bonus and speeds up the killing time by loads.

I think you can kill around 6 at a time with a little struggle without zealot's fire.

For that I would try this build..

Skills

Balthazar's Aura
Balthazar's Spirit
Symbol of Wrath
Orison of healing
Dwayna's touch
Divine Boon
Shielding Hands
Retribution or Zealot's Fire

This gives you energy regen of +1, but with spirit you'll be gaining it fast in combat. If you have Zealot's fire get rid of retribution and replace it with that. Spam Dwayna's touch and orison of healing during combat (after the smites) to do some good added damage while healing like crazy.

Healing Prayers (9) 8 base + 1 minor rune
Smiting Prayers (13) 11 base + 1 helm + 1 minor rune
Protection Prayers (7) 6 base + 1 minor rune
Divine Favor (10) 9 base + 1 minor rune

Put in a minor vigor rune while you're at it to one of your leftover armor parts.

This should give you around 120 life per heal with orison and alot more with touch. When you throw on the shielding hands just spam those heals. Don't have Dwayna's Touch? use reversal of fortune instead.

With this and zealot's fire, you'll be able to pull up to 10 and take them on.

6-8 without zealot's.

As for physical resistance, It give an extra 30 armor for physical but with my above listed build, it makes that generally obsolete.

PS (2): If you have one of the elites like healing hands or mark of protection, you should read one of the advanced guides out there. This was my way to try to work around the LONG and somewhat useless trip to drok's just to farm riverside. Can be done WAY before you get those elites now.

Oh and as for the runes, the minor ones will role in like crazy. If you wish to know how to pull all 12 just's without luring in the abbots, just ask. At the start there is a little hill to the right just to give you an idea of what to do.

With the above build you can solo 8-9 without dropping below half health. I just tried 12 and died, but just before they all died after my symbol of wrath.

I think it's possible to farm 8-9 every 1 minute 30 seconds. Each run brings in a decent amount of gold.

If you work hard and don't slip up too much, you can get around 50 plat in a few hours. Every 100 runs or so you'll find a superior rune (which I have basically calculated badly)

Very sorry for all the mistakes. I am new myself and still learning how to make money. Does anyone remember Diablo II guides? the poor man's section? I guess this is one of them. A poor man's guide to equipment/skills.

On one final note, it's possible to start this as low as level 15. You can level to 20 in a short while.

Just wanted to point out that you prob mean "Healing Touch", as there is no "Dwaynas Touch" and "Dwaynas Kiss" is Other Ally only.

Just a little tip, the mana regen might be fine now, but when you fight stronger mobs further ahead it will not be enough, cause you will not fight 8 mobs at a time. At that time it can be interesting for you to change out a spell for "Essence Bond" so you get 2 mana for each hit on you.

Works great on my "5k every 20 minutes" build. :)

First off id like to say your video was awesome, iive started a Mo/E for farming i was just looking through skill trainers list and i couldnt find arcane armour on that list. Could anyone tell me where i could get it, or is it from a different profession?

I use similar tactics, but have shield of judgement. It does a 50 damage feedback + knockdown when I'm hit. Pretty nice as it does good damage and really slows attacks down. Can survive tons of guys since you don't need to heal as much.

Hi Susan. In my last post I cleared up the Physical Resistance/Arcane Armor error I made foolishly :(

I cannot remember where I got physical resistance but if you check gwonline and skill trainers, you'll find it on one them.

Also thanks for the tip with essence bond. I use it for farming 3 hydra's at a time in the desert. Protective Bond, Protective Spirit, Balth Spirit, Essence Bond and just spam symbol of wrath and balthazar's aura.

Yes I was indeed thinking of Dwayna's Kiss which can be gotten early on but target other ally only. FYI, Reversal of fortune does not seem to trigger Zealot's Fire for me. I guess it would make sense why it doesn't.

Healing touch can be got from the desert too but I believe it is only available after ascension? I'm not sure. Once again thanks for all the corrections :) I am not used to writing this sort of stuff.

Yes. This new update added mobs that strip your enchantments or something. Because of bots and whatnot. They said they're trying to find a way to make things better for everyone. We'll just have to wait and see...

I'm new to farming, and I just tried Riverside. You can still do it, but it's a lot harder since you got those casters that follow you every 2 or so runs. And they don't seem to drop anything...?
