I've been planning a AoE based necro warrior using the following skills

1.life siphon
2.Feast of Corruption (if i can get it)
3.cyclone axe
4.mark of pain
5.well of blood
6.gladiators defence
7.maybe strip enchantment/condition remover
8.res or additional heal

Not sure if this is the most efficient (pve) based skill setup, but it's what I have in mind.

My real question is, will i benifit more from w/n or n/w? W/N seems only to offer higher AL levels and more physical damage. N/W has more AL than most casters, and overall isn't too much less than the warriors, plus the necro has more energy allowing more life siphons/etc. It seems to me the n/w is the stronger of the two candidates..but maybe I'm overlooking something

My main focus here is to do wide spread damage, and have a decent chance at soloing/staying alive in pve.

Thanks in advance.

Not just more energy, more energy generation too.

Since you seem to favor a large amount of necro skills, N/W would be the right build for you. Warriors not only have less energy, but they also have half the regeneration. Considering these necro healing and AoE skills cost 10-15 energy, you probably can only cast two of these at one time and will also have a long energy recharge period as a warrior primary.
Since it looks like you are only using 1 or 2 warrior skills (I believe Gladiators Defense is elite, so you can't use it with Feast of Corruption), you might want to try an Elementalist secondary. Elementalist will better suit your AoE needs than cyclone axe.

Well, I'm sort of stuck on making a N/W. I think N/E would be a bit heavier on energy, and I'd probably be better off going E/N anyway in that case.

I've revised me skill setup a bit-
1.life siphon
2.Feast of Corruption (if i can get it)
3.cyclone axe
4.mark of pain
5.well of blood
6.Bonetti's defence
7.executioners strike ( for some more personally damage dealing )
8.res or additional heal

Any other skills I might consider? Maybe some summoning skills would be best suited for pve too take some of the damage off..
thanks for the Input guys

I have both a warrior primary and a necro primary, lvl 20 with their final armours, and I can say there is a huge difference between necro and warrior armours. The additional 80 +20 or 85 +10 on everypart to physical attacks makes a huge difference, compared to 70 on a necro.

I get raped with my necro if i charge in, but the warrior does fine. It depends on how much you want to tank realy I guess.

You're covering four attributes there, and while that's not all bad, that's not all good either. Consider scaling back to just three: Blood, Axe Mastery, and Tactics. This does mean a loss of Mark of Pain, but I believe it's worth the loss. Instead, replace it with Dismember, and replace Executioner's Strike with Axe Twist. Dismember and Axe Twist are adrenaline skills so they won't use energy, and using them in that order will cause a deep wound and weakness, as well as some pretty decent damage. A weakened monster does a lot less damage, improving your chances of survival.

Also, with more points dedicated towards Blood magic and Tactics, your Well of Blood will regenerate more and both it and Bonetti's Defense will last longer. As well, a pair of Life Siphons at Blood magic 12 is +6 HPR.

I might drop tactics ( i just remembered bonetti's is a sword stance anyway )
and go with curses to use Enfeebling blood + Feast of Corruption. Though most of this I might deside later on according to my playing style/etc.
I think enfeebling blood would be more efficient than axe twist, as my focus is damaging/debuffing multiple enemies at a time. Would axe twist + enfeebling blood stack? Either way, it'd probably fit my build better than executioners.
Anyway, it looks like i'll be going with blood, curse, axe mastery.

I've been trying to think of the best prefix for my axe, I currently have a
fiery chaos axe...I'm thinking Furious Chaos Axe of Axe Mastery/warding
and maybe a zealous axe on switch.

Anyways, thanks for all the help, it's been very...helpful. :D
