well today i decided to go with my Me/Mo and PvP for a while, everything was goin pretty good with our 4 winning streak, my team being Me/Mo, W/Mo, E/Me, and a Mo/Me.
We ran into a group that had N/Me, Ne/Mo, N/Me, and a W/Mo.
We all laughed as our warrior picked out the first necro to die.
I cast my backfire as usual, and this guy really started to take a pounding. I saw my health go with 3 minus arrows so i cast healing breeze, no biggy. Then i guess their team didnt have TEAM chat on because he called his buddy over there to help try and kill me. about 5-7 bars of curses etc shot across my screen, and i could only read a few before i died, i must have had 8 minus arrows, took off my 510HP in about 8 seconds... I was wonderin if necros are really this good, or do i just suck? I didnt even have time to remove hex
They used life syphon, faintheartedness, vampiric gaze and i couldnt read the rest.
O ya, they went on to own the rest of my team in 2 and a half minutes.

the necros were just concentrating on you. nothing much you could do, just like if 4 air ele's use orb/chain lightning. a spell breaker/hex breaker combo could work.

did your teammates kill 1 necros atleast? would seem like they should have been able to kill the backfired necro.

with life transfer (elite) i can get 8 degen on you and with awaken the blood 9... Mhahahaha and for fun stack a life siphon (3 degen) for the max of 10 degen.. and dont forget that all that you are losing in life the necro is gaining :D

Also i can just eat that healing breeze of yours and give myself 120 health ... hehehehe

Thats a good question. The answer being a mixture of both. Most necro curses take a while to cast so when you saw him call for help you could have probbly hit a few with a chaos storm and if they dont move a bit before casting it would wipe most of their energy away. after you backfired the one you could have easily targeted another and been prepared to use an interupt or two to stop his casting aswell. you could have been prepared with hex breaker(FYI mesmer stances are in my opinion the most useful stances in the game) which would have stopped one or more likely two hexes from the other necro. with that you could have shut down the three necros casting for a few seconds while, hopefully, your team kills one of them. then you could watched the monk try to res, cast chaos storm to drain energy for a few seconds and use something like power leak after watching them casting for like 6 seconds.

thats all theoretical and very few people can handle spreading their attention between several people to shut down 3-4 casters, i know i cant, and even if you were fairly good as was said. 10 life degen(30dmg per second i believe) is easy to stack up as a necro, even without life transfer. life siphon, faintheartedness, disease = 12 bringing max easily. then if your healing breeze is on and is maxed for 9 a life transfer on top would knock you back to -10 regen.

hopefully you learned something from this defeat and wont be outclassed so easily next time.

i believe its 20 damage per second as 1 degen is 2 health per second and 2 is 4 etc etc.. you just double the number of degen to get the dmg per second

No, 1 arrow is 3 health per second.

No, 1 arrow is 3 health per second.

where do you get your information from?

I have looked at the conditions page (http://www.gwonline.net/page.php?p=79 ) and you can see the conditions that cause health degen such as Bleeding it says "Bleeding causes the target to suffer health degeneration of -3 (target loses 6 health/second)" and Burning "Burning causes the target to suffer health degeneration of -7 (target loses 14 health/second)" which would confirm that it is only 2 per second per 1 degen. i have also checked this with another GW site.

i would like to belive its 3 per second.. all the more damage for me :D but that doesnt seem to be the case.

If all those Necros coordinated their builds beforehand, you certainly could be stacked to death if they were concentrating solely on you, and even if not, could still get a nice stack of degens on you offhand from AoE's (ie suffering).
Personally, I prefer being looked at as an underdog by adversaries; Those truly unfamiliar with the Necro's potential never really know what hit 'em. :winking47

to the OP- yes, we are underdogs in disguise. Squishy, but give you hell before we go. And you were lucky to only get 8 (was it?) degen. I've seen 16 (only 10 counts), but that means you can be healed for +6 regen and still have 10 degen. And if they use the right skills...can get quite a bit of health from you while doing it.
