View Full Version : Necro Farmer
Has anyone ever came up with a pure necro build that's good for farming? I need to make some money and right now the fastest way seems to be for me to solo shiverpeaks around yak's bend cause that's just about as far as I can go solo without immidiately wiping out. After seening a couple of farming videos I wonder If such a thing is possible with pure necro.
p.s. failing that is it possible with N/Mo?

Hey. I'm practically a pure Necro - I have Ranger as a secondary so I can have a pet, but it's basically a decoy to take the heat off of me.
Right now I'm killing Mergoyles(?) and Bogs outside of the mission area before getting to Lion's Arch - it's quick&easy and they can't really seem to get much damage off of me. I'll note that, I try not to take on more than 3 or 4, it just gets too hairy.
I'm working with 53 energy and a -1 energy recharge too. (Though I'll switch weapons in between battles to gain it back faster)
Blood (primary) All your health are belong to us. Shadow Strike (yum), Strip Enchantment, Vampiric Gaze, Life Siphon, Well of Blood (I used to take Dark Pact with me, but it seems to more efficient to leave it out)
Curses and Soul Reaping (secondary) Fainthardedness, slows their attacks, degen their health, Parasitic bond, degen and major health boost.
Beast Mastery (1 point  ) Charm Pet
Works for me.

Well, i solo with my N/E a lot and i dont seem to have much problem. When i solo i use a combo of blood/death magic(death magic for the minions), and i have no problem in Kryta or the Shiverpeaks, so yeah its possible.
I'm thinking more like Riverside farming where things are closer to lvl 20 cap. I r needs me some runes.
I'm currently working on a N/Mo to solo the game in later lvls. Here's my build plan:
Blood Magic: 10
Healing Prayers: 10
Smiting Prayers: 12
Zealot's Fire
Balthazar's Aura
Healing Hands
Orizon of Healing
Unholy Feast
Signet of Agony
Symbol of Wrath
Mending
My only problem is that most of these spells cannot be attained until very late in the game.

A PvE soloing necro actually is not that hard. Your main combo should be Animate Bone Fiends + Heal Area. As you have likely noticed, as you journey throuught the land, your minions when they follow you stay nicely clumped. Stop every so often and drop a Heal Area to keep them alive and well. Your other spells can focus on damage and maybe some vampirism.

two problems - one is you need to be able to kill mobs without bone fiends to get them and secondly he wanted a build to farm, not to solo which are two very different things
minions do not work well for farming purposes because they don't do great damage, and your first fight you will have to do without them
Yup exactly. Minions work well in solo but that initial build up can be murder, quite literraly. Also killing rate is only farming like untill about half way through jungle. You can run with a big group of (in my case) lvl 17 Fiends and Horrors and kill everything, but later in the game it doesn't hold quite so well and if you ever hit a long blank stretch of map your beloved minions will be at -10 degen and thus will die at the earliest opportunity. Minions are extremely helpfull for a long time but you can only farm with then if they kill everything in seconds, and if you manage to find whole bunch of single easy mobs to start up your army with.

I will usually take one henchie to Tank for me in the first fight or two until I can raise some Kids, then just let him die and leave him.
I usually concentrate on Skills that will knock them down quick that have Shadow Damage, and ones like Putrid Explosion. Once you get them in a group, and your Death Magic is high, you can do some real damage. Each one I use Putrid Explosion on, will do 107 damage to every enemy within reach, it will usually drop one or two more, just pop a another one, and then raise the rest for the next fight.
I do have one question here though. I am a N/Mo 18 with a Energy of only 40, how did you manage to get to 50.

My N/R16 has 53 energy. I have Lion's Arch scarmor and I think a +10 wand and a +8 idol.

Thats interesting, I have the Bonelace Armor I just picked up of 59 +Energy1-5, then I use a Bone Idol that gives me +10, and Rune's that help as well. Maybe I missed some kind of Energy upgrade somewhere.
I would love to get the Armor in Marhan's Grotto, but heading south out of Beacons is a Suicide run where a Nerco does not have Sprint. Even if he did, I don't think he could make it. The big question is, what Mission from what town will take you close to there so you do not have to go through Snake Dance.

The run to Marhan's Grotto is easy - I did it from Thunderhead. It's not too long of a run, and as long as you've got a decent party it should be a peace of cake. I didn't have any trouble at all - although that may be because my N/R has a couple of run buffs available when he needs 'em.

Sorry, I should have explained a little more of what I had in mind.
I have tried and tried to get to the area south of Beacons Perch. They are all level 22 and up, this is a difficult run at best. I have a level 18 Nerco and and level 17 Warrior. Neither one has made it to the first gate yet. I have tried solo to sneak through, with Henchies, and with groups that were level 20.
My Logic is this. I think the run is made to be impossible south of Beacons for any group but the total insane. So it only stands to reason that when you complete a mission, it will put you in one of the towns south of Snake Dance.
My question is, what town and mission do you have to do to be teleported to the Region south of Beacons Perch.
Lol. Exit from the other side of Perch and walk easily to gate's of kryta. You desperately trying to skip 2/3rds of the game. If you manage to get to droknar via snakedance you'll skip most of the storyline development that happs in jungle and then you'll miss the desert and accention completely. Whn you do all those you'll teleport to droknar
