It's come to shcok me though, but if you look at the elite skills Healing Hands and Word of Healing, you'll basically notice they're a nerfed less energy cost healer than another spell eg.-

Heal Other Heals 151 for 10 Energy vs. Word of Healing Heals 150 at MAX for 5 Energy, and that's below 50% health...

Healing Seed Heals for 22 for 18 seconds for 15 Energy vs. Healing Hands that heals for 18 for 10 seconds for 5 Energy

What makes these skills so popular? I'd rather throw in shield of regen or something that can actually be of better use.

the only people that i know that uses healing hands are w/mo's because they can't apply healing seed on themselves. as you've mentioned they both cost less energy.

there's nothing wrong with word of healing. i don't usually use heal other until someone falls around or under 50% life so word of healing is better then heal other to me. being 5 less in energy makes it more spammable.

in pve i use word of healing but in pvp i usually end up using either spell breaker or mark of protection.

healing hands is good for solo farming monk too

and word of healing, i love. 5 energy for big heal is nice.
