Monk Secondary Question

Sorry to flog an already dead horse folks but i had a bad experience yesterday, was doing Bloodfang quest with a party and we had a E/Mo healer, we were ok until getting to bloodfang himeself, then we died lots. So this has pushed me to use my 4th cahracter slot for a Monk but i'm having trouble with a second profession. So far i'm thinking either Mesmer or Ranger. Any helpful comments on personal monk experiences would be welcome. Thanks

Well, Wards from an Elementalist are always helpful no matter the situation, but if you are looking for something a bit more useful to only you, I would suggest Hex Breaker. It's a Mesmer skill that is awesome without any points into Domination. I use it with nothing in it, and it saves me quite a bit.

Hex Breaker - Domination
5 Mana
5 Recharge
Instant cast
For the next (60...157ish) seconds, if a Hex type spell is cast on you, that spell fails and caster takes (10... 60ish) damage.

I did that from memory, but you get the idea.
