Basically I have the 4 Superior Mesmer runes, and I don't want to put them on anything until I know I have the best possible armor to put them on, so I won't have to try to salvage them off and put them on a better piece of clothing later.

So my question is, what are the absolute best Mesmer armor sets to choose from?

I would suggest going to http://www.gwonline.net , choosing the Armor Crafting Index, picking your profession, and scrolling to the bottom. Besides, there's no such thing as 'best' armor. Just the top tier stuff with the highest base AR, with variances in terms of special effects.

Best armour to my knowledge comes from Granite Citadel in souther shiverpeaks, ie the 15k armour. There isn't too much difference between this and the tier lower except for different appearance

Considering you got 4 superior runes, I'm guessing you don't intend to get attacked.

In which case, the sets that add AL are meaningless.

So go with the Enchanter's Set, which gives you more energy.

It's also the sexiest armor in the entire GW universe (-:

oh, the 15k version of the Enchanter's set doesn't have new textures yet, a pity.

To what can you apply runes? To every armor piece, boots, leggings, armour, gloves, helmet? And 4 superior, I think you can have 480 hp without any boosts, so you'd only have 200 max hp of so if your wand has a hp boost...I doubt thats a really good idea...

you do notice that it says HP -75 on those sup runes right? loading up on it makes you a walking paper target. Intending that you will not get attacked or not you will still be targetted one way or another, especially in PVP.

If you mean best AL thats in droknar's forge. 15k armor sets are just different in looks.

if you add a superior vigor rune, and have hale staff head etc you can roughly cancel out the -75 hp loss of one superior rune, but 4 is a lotta max hp loss...

Death penalty doesn't take rune hit point penalties into account. That means that DP can and will drop your maximum life below zero, rendering you useless for the duration of the mission/match. (nevermind the fact that your health is going to suck even at the best of times)

I'll have to check my gauntlets to make sure my warrior doesn't get a paper cut.
