Fragility..

For 8-18 seconds, target foe takes 5-28 damage each time that foe suffers or recovers from a new condition.

I posted this on the ranger board but I want to see what PvPer's think.

56 damage for each condition over the course of its run. Not too shabby. This is one case where shortened conditions might be to our benefit. At 0 wilderness you would be getting 56 damage every 3 seconds + the psn damage + arrow damage. Obviously the more conditions you put on the better. Bleeding is a possibility but hunters shot has too long of a duration for it to garner much damage from fragility if marksmen is high and sometimes its difficult to put on. Pindown will most likely only do 26 extra damage since it lasts so long but that sure can't hurt.

Melandru's Arrows is a possibility but since its a preparation you can't use apply psn. So perhaps... with wilderness still at 0, you use psn arrow + Melandru's arrow. +56 every 5 seconds + psn damage + bleeding damage + 56 damage every 3 seconds + Melandru's arrow damage. Looks VERY high to me... can anyone do the math?? Very very steady damage due to the fact that psn + bleeding + fragility are dealing constant predictable damage... and even level 0 melandru isn't too bad against people with enchantments.

Then there are traps. Low wildeness means crappy conditions duration... perfect. Lay a few traps in the right order and a rushing warrior will take significant damage in a hurry from the traps + fragility. That warrior should in theory.. running threw 4 conditions take 200~ damage... and thats before the world of hurt you lay on him in the seconds that follow.

Just for giggles... even throw dirt would hurt the enemy :D. What an insult.

I'm seeing a strong build here.... maybe? I want a few testers to try this out.

Ah crap... scrap the psn arrow + melandru... two elites lol... unless you steal that elite from another ranger in your group or something :(. Any ideas if this can still work? Damage from fragility really seems to be significant.

Fire is the obvious condition you're missing. Check out Freya's Theme Build #2 at Guild Wars Guru.com (in the Articles library) for more info on how fire does its damage with Fragility.

Ahh... I read that... that looks interesting... and obviously its a very specialized build dependent on hexes :D. Looks powerful though if it can be pulled off. Freya is using Mark of Rodgort (low fire magic) + Fire damage from + Conjure Flame and also conveniantly pointing out level 14 Fragility deals 64 damage per completed trigger. Just for knowledge sake anyone know what level 15 does? Freya also tosses in phantom pain for the damage and the deep wound trigger. Apparently 2 fire magic is as high as you can go while still maintaining 1 seconds burns.

Another method mentioned might be to use immolate or blinding as obvious choices. I'm thinking of using low level arcane echo immolate spam of immolate with fragility. 64 (at 14) !unavoidable! damage per second isn't bad if you add in the 14+ damage from 1 second burn and hit itself.

Now enervating charge I looked at but duration is really too long... but if you have an air elementalist on your team... that will be on anyway.. just bonus damage on your target enemy. Gravy. What's really important might be those air elementalists kept blinding your target.... 64 damage every 3 seconds in ADDITION to their already strong spike damage. Many air elementals carry that anyway so it wouldn't be too much to ask a buddy to carry that as a method to infuse more damage.

And if you are going to use teamwork I can imagine axe warriors with their conditions can really lay on the hurt.... w/r or r/w for example.... apply psn with short duration + heavy conditions.

One last interesting thing... does fragility work if a condition is CURED? You know all those monks that draw conditions onto themselves.... and then cure it right away? Wouldn't it be suicide if they had fragility on them and curing it counted to double the 32~ damage? Does this work? If you are a condition heavy team thats like 200-300 damage on the careless monk.

So... lets look at a 10 second period of spike damage. It adds about 64 damage per second if you can maintain 1 second burning (2 arcane echo immolate mages). It adds 64x3 damage from 3 second poisoning in addition to psn damage itself. 64x3 for blinding your air elementals tend to do anyway. Now any way to get short duration bleeding, crippling or deep wound? I believe if you can cast it a short while into the battle the enemy might not notice it right away in you can put them away in 10 seconds.

Don't Forget that due to the fact that you have Mesmer as Secondary you have access to Epidemic (sorry if u already mentioned this)

I know a few things about using fragility. The main problem you would have with this first premise using apply posion is that you would have to avoid hitting them again within the 3 second duration of posion or you will re-apply the duration, which will not trigger the fragility damage. It would take a super amount of micro manage to attack the frag target with posion shoot another target come back and re-apply posion after duration wares off.

There is a ranger prep that does burning damage for 1-3 seconds. This skill will work wonders for a fragility build. There are a number of other skills that you can use and team builds that you can use to futher take advantage of this skill.

I was actually just in the process of creating a fragility build when I read this thread. Quick question:

Would Incendiary Arrows or Melandru's Arrows be more effective with this build?

I was originally thinking to go with Incendiary, apply poison, pin down, and throw dirt with fragility.

I was thinking Quickening Zephyr - Fragility - Apply poison - Quickshot might work, but I havent tested it.
