View Full Version : What do you expect from a E/Me
Ok, so your pug or guild picks up an E/Me and say for lack of better naming this guy is a pyromancer (built from scratch though).
Who are you expecting him to go for and what skills would you assume/expect him to have/use.
I just expect him to be a slow nuker, knowing he should have reverted the class the other way around, who needs a large energy pool when a mesmer can steal back energy. :| (and life from energy)
If you want be an elementalists, the only good class in my opinion to partner with it is a monk, as you can heal more people in the long run.

Too many ways to go with an Ele/Mes really. I've seen Ether Renewal + Diversion spammers, Ether Renewal + Arcane Echo nukers, Elemental Attunement + Arcane Echo + Lightning Orb spammers, etc... The list is pretty long. I suggest you find a combination that works with your style and work on it.

Maybe for PvE, but definitely not for PvP. Pro Monks work fine as E/Mo or N/Mo's, but Heal Monks are best left as Mo/? Ele secondarys typically are either Nec for the Curses line or just Rend Enchantments, or Mes for Arcane Echo.

Ele Attunement+ X attunement is better energy management.

Primary monk >>>> Ele /Mo healer
Primary monk >>>> Ele /Mo healer
You missed out something, anyways, let me explain.
yes a primary monk can heal better, as in you see the healing effects a lot more.
a E/mo is more durable when it comes to healing, their massive energy pool allows them to heal a lot more people, but its not as effective.

Mo/x is better at healing spike damage which is the biggest threat in pvp.

You've gone totally off topic thanks, the topic here is, What do you expect out of a Ele/Mes

Actually you were the first one going offtopic suggestin him to go Ele/Mo when this thread is specifically about Ele/mes..

So your opinion is that Energy Storage is a useless primary trait except for healing?! Personally I think all that energy is great for blasting.
You can only use runes for your primary classs skill lists so if you want to blast to the max you have to be a primary Elementalist not Mesmer.

In PvP, you want to concentrate SOLELY on your primary class. So if your a ele/mes, you'll probably dump all your points into energy storage and elementalist skills. Ini PvP, its not about how versatile you are, its about how specialized your build is, in that, what does your build do? If you want damage, go all air and energy storage (though i use air, energy storage and earth for the obsidian flame).
Leave the mesmer lines to mesmers.

Generally true, but not always. Energy Storage tends to be one of those primary attributes you want if runes of your primary just won't benefit you as much as the energy bonus will. An Ele/Mes that runs Ether Renewal can pull off a Diversion spam pretty damn well.
well thanks for getting back towards the topic ( I do find it a little irratating when I ask about a specific build and only post saying "that build sucks" come up *coughs and glares*) but I do enjoy the suggestions of what works for other people. Still what I'm trying to figure out is when you pick up an E/Me do you expect them to AoE everyone to death, protect your team's healer or go for the other teams spell casters? I'm not asking how you have played one, I'm asking what you are expecting from your team mate when he/she is one.

It's not so much as what the team expects from you, but what do you want/can do for the team?
You can go domination line + air to disable their monk/casters while nuking them to death quickly.
You can go earth line + monk line to keep your casters alive, while providing healign support and the occasional nuke from obsidian flame.
Try your combinations for what you like, while keeping in mind what your guild lacks in GvG battles.
