I am a w/mo (I know, very original), and I use the Gladiator armor because of the added energy bonus. I am considering dithcing this armor because of how god-awful horrible it looks. I mean did they get the design for this armor after a drunken trip to Caesers Palace in veags? Am I right or am I right?

It is very horrible. It's the worst to see a warrior dancing in it. :sad44:

I see no problems with it. Sure, I don't wear it, but I don't think it's that bad either. (Warrior/Monk wearing Ascalon armor for damage reduction)

yeah a warrior dancing in it, well I'm no homophobe by any means, but you can't deny that it's a very disturbing sight.

They look good on female knights. Platemail with helm look the worst in both sex imo, they look like some kind of fat metallic robots.

Hah, the world just, at one point turned gay... Remember couple years ago no one really knoticed homosexuality and now, a touch on the shoulder results and eye contact leads to...

Especially those "Gay Straight Alliance" people who won HOH and kept the favor for...I believe it was Europe?

Yah, well I prefer the platemail not because of looks but because of its stats, I guess I could understand the basic W/Mo would be in need of energy...The glad armor looks horrible on both males and females tho, sorry. But then we got platemail for the manly man :happy14:

As a W/E I hate the fact that gladiator armour looks the way it does. If I want my character to perform at a certain level then it makes sense for me to only use a knights helm and then use the rest of the gladiator set. Do you have any idea how retarded that looks o_O?!

I've said it since the outset, the different stats on the individual armous should not be tied to the model, they should've done it like DiabloII did. They want individuality and personal customisation, but they make restrictions like 'If you want extra energy from your armour you have to use Gladiator armour'. Yeh there are the 15k ones but not everyone can afford them, let alone if they look any better. DiabloII uniques had the same problem. 'Armour204F' is determined to be the most useful for a Barbarian, so what do we see? Every single Barbarian with 'Armour204F'.

I also think that the 'bug' or whatever with Knights/Ascalon Armour should be fixed. You should only get the damage reduction for the piece you are wearing, therefore creating a reason to actually use either of those sets.

I'm pretty sure the justification for the energy bonus is the minimal weight and body coverage that Gladiator provides. I would be in favor of a "cooler" and more conservative 15k version, but that has yet to be seen.

There's only so much you can do to armor that's supposed to be extremely mobile. I actually think the bracers and boots bother me more than the rest of it. Although it would be nice to not have that nipple showing.

I agree 100% maximus, The fissure gladiator armor looks awsome. It most definately does look better then normal gladiator armor but i still see no real problem with the normal gladiator armor. It has a "gladiator" look about it. Thats probably why it's called gladiator armor. I dunno call me crazy.

I use gladiator on my male W/Mo and yes I agree it looks horrible, I don't want to see his man booby. However on the female warrior it looks decent.

Speaking of Fissure Gladiator, does anyone have a picture of it? I take it the Grotto one is not finished yet?

I see no problems with Gladiator armor. I actually think it's one of the better looking sets. And it's fairly accurate too; Roman gladiators did wear stuff that looked similar. I think dragon armor looks much worse... it looks like those wierd suits from that awful movie The Cell, or like the warrior's been skinned alive and all the muscles underneath are exposed. Why'd they have to make it that particular shade of red, anyway?

I won't use the gladiator armor on my female W/Mo. Too skimpy. It's Ascalon armor to the end, for her... the best looking, IMHO. :happy34:

They seemed to have determined that for some professions, lack of covering = higher energy. Monk and Necro tattoos/scars are the most extreme. Mesmer and Ranger have full covering armor that gives the extra energy, I wish there were something similar for all the classes.

I tried full tattoo armor on my monk once and I just couldn't stand seeing him running around in a loin cloth.

I personally think the ringmail you get in pre-sear looks better than what you get in post. And what armor is it that gwo mistakenly has on the picture of wyvern armor in their armor crafting index?

I can't stand the armor system in this game. I would prefer being able to pick the armor pieces i prefer and then paying to have modifiers added, such as energy increases... As a W/E i am almost stuck with the Gladiator armor, which may explain why i haven't bothered to play this game in over a week. Just plain constrictive in a number of areas. *cough* player slots *cough*.

Oh well, save money on expansions..

I also prefer the chain mail from pre-searing. Much more realistic in my view of armor.

It is funny that everyone talks about the stats of Gladiator Armor being the lowest - it isn't. It is 80 Armor +20 for physical attacks. Plate Mail is 85 armor +10 for physical attacks. That means - if you are being beat on - Gladiators would be better. Add to that, the extra energy, it really is a no brainer!!

Most of the armor sets have similar specs, except for the energy gain for Gladiator's - PERIOD. They just look different. Gladiators is more true to the Roman form - I agree there.

I don't really understand. I think Gladiator armor looks the best of them all on female warriors. (Ok, well not the helm, but 90% of the warrior helmets look awful). On guys, well...why the hell would you play a guy in a video game unless you were a girl... or gay? I don't really understand why I'd want to stare at a guy all day long when I could be looking at a woman instead. The Gladiator armor and the tatoo armor for monks pretty much supports that. I could look at:
1) Half naked woman
2) Half naked man

Not really a tough call.

Ugh, if you think gladiator's armor is bad, wait til you see some odd dyes for tattoo patterns. I was standing at the storage NPC and noticed this necro or monk who looked like he was suffering from some horrifying skin disease.

When in public, I try to keep my warrior (a she) in either Gladiator's armor or the basic studded leather she picked up long ago. The reason behind this is that the Knight's Armor makes me cringe when I see her in it. Also, the odd ridge around the back of the neck cuts into her hairline. I'm picky about how my characters look, heh.

And oi, when she puts on her helm I can't help but think of "Ride of the Valkyries".

My 1 problem with it is the god damn nipple exposure. If anyone should have nipples exposed it should be females. Besides, it doesn't make sense that a 100al vs physical armor would leave your HEART and all your vital organs exposed, but GD it your right shoulder is armored like a tank!

Gladiators DID wear some pieces like that, but not ALL Gladiators did. Personally I'd like some changes for some of the warrior things.

I'm going to make a new topic regarding my ideas now.

Which dragon armor looks like this? I have the 15k set from Granite Citadel and it looks, well, like a dragon....cept for the helm, which looks HORRIBLE!

Well Gladiator's looks pretty funny on males, but I hardly think it's the worst looking in the game. Full body monk tatoos are bad in a lot of combinations. They can look pretty nice on a black monk died silver, but dyed red on the usual pasty monk it just looks silly. But this does not compare to the horrors spawnable with this armor!

This one looks like a superhero, but with a little imagination and dye, visual abominations abound! Once I made a mesmer that looked like it belonged in vintage 60's porn.

Note, Female mesmer energy armor is far far from full covering. Its basically the skimpiest looking armor set in the game, you are running around in lingere

That's the truth. I have no objection to playing a 'piece of meat' male character that women would blush over or any of that crap. I just don't want it to look stupid. I think if he had NO armour on his chest it would look more appealing to women, and cooler to us guys than the random vegas outfit he has now.

The nipple... oh god WHY DO WE HAVE TO SEE THE (MANLY) NIPPLE!?

It is scary. Really.

On a totally unrelated note, I wish PVP premades could wear platemail instead of dragon, dragon looks stupid but unless you want nipple armor, you have to use it.
