Yeah, I just got the go-ahead to build another new PC for the dealership. So what if the Service Department doesn't need a 128MB Radeon 9800SE? It might come with a free game that I haven't played yet! Of course they need high performance RAM! DVD-RW? Why not?

I wish my university felt the same way. Great video cards, but unless GW is in full screen mode (and even then sometimes) the game freezes.:undecided:

That sucks. :annoyed:

Another great side-effect of me building computers for the dealership is the fact that besides me no one else knows what's going on.:goofy:

So the whole process of me assembling a PC can easily take up three quarters of the day.:sinister:

Is that wrong?:astonished:

I'm going to die today on my way home from work. :scared:

This morning, driving to work it was +4 C and raining. Not rain like, "Hmmm... I should turn on my wipers to the mist setting" but I mean torrential down pour. And right now the temperature is -10 C and still dropping to -19 C with wind gusts up to 75kph and it's snowing. There's complete whiteout conditions all over the city and because of all that rain & freezing rain throughout the night and this morning, everything just went into flash freeze. There's even a snow plow in the ditch!

It's going to be a fun drive home.

Welcome to Chicago weather!!! I miss the snow!!!!! Since I have been displaced to the shores of VA, I haven't had much of an opportunity to see much snow anymore. The weather down here is really weird! For most of this week the temps have been in the upper 60's F/lower 70's F. Those are late spring temps!!! February has always been a weird month down here and it sucks that I can't get some snow whenever I want it!!!!!

No need for self pity. It's just that I really miss the snow. According to the weatherman it is supposed to snow here(virginia) this weekend. I'll believe it when I see it. The wintertime has always been my favorite season. The night skies are always much clearer and you can get a better glimps of the stars and the heavens. Plus, there are NO mosquitoes around during that time!!! I really hate mosquitoes....almost as much as i hate Hydras and Wind Riders......But anyway, I just miss not being able to play in the snow. :sunny:

Bit of english news then that I heard yesterday (think it was yesterday....) A women recently got arrested for stabbing her husband. The reason behind the stabbing was because the guy wouldn't sleep with her even though she'd put on highheels and a thong. She claimed he wasn't fulfilling his marriage obligations and thus her actions were just.

After the stabbing the guy went to the station to report his wife before heading to the hospital for minor wounds to the arm.

So I'm not sure if this means you can now use the line (for married people at least) "Dear, I'm feeling rather randy tonight, please head upstairs and fulfill your marriage obligations".

Highheels and a thong got me thinking of strippers, which logically moves to prostitutes. The moment I started reading this a friend of mine sent me this link. I think the longest I was able to sleep in one stretch was around 12 hours and that was with the help of some alcohol. I usually end up getting around 2-4 hours of sleep each night. I have been on that schedule for so long that now my body automatically wakes me up after a maximum of 4 hours of sleep....unless I can drown it with booze. :drunk:

The thing is, though, it's not really "sleep" if it's alcohol induced. It's more of a coma like passout! But I've been able to sleep up to 16 hours without waking. If I do that now, though I'm useless for the rest of the day... even more so than normal! :P

Arbain wouldn't go into specifics, but he assured me that it had nothing to do with our doomsday device....errr....what doomsday device......there's no doomsday device......I meant to say free ice cream machine....yeah..... free ice cream.

Who wants free ice cream?

:hide:

That reminds me. The cruise I went on last summer or something, on the boat there was a 24 hour pizza place(godly pizza) And there were a few soft ice cream machines scattered around the boat(the correct termification would be "ship" probably). The ice cream was free and very uber.

And the only other good thing on that cruise was the walking track I ran around during the very windy storm. It was so windy, when the wind went by the stairs, it made this evil-ish howling sound. But the rest of the cruise was for little kids, and adults. Nothing for people my age.

But I didn't pay for it, so hey! It was fun.

We had like 4 buttons like that in the office before I quit. I made sure to hit 3 of them at the end of my last day. I already knew what the fourth did. They were pretty boring apart from this one that was hidden near the fire alarm....

We had like 4 buttons like that in the office before I quit. I made sure to hit 3 of them at the end of my last day. I already knew what the fourth did. They were pretty boring apart from this one that was hidden near the fire alarm.... The story of buttons at work reminded me of this...

Back when I worked on the space instrumentation side of the house, before I went back to school for my Master's, we did a lot of testing with the others who worked on our NASA project. We built the sensing instruments, and a spacecraft supplier in Los Angeles built the satellite. Before we could test in their facility though, we had to be adequately trained in the safety procedures of their facility.

One of these training sessions was on using their huge anechoic chambers. These things could fit a satellite in them, and in order to properly eliminate noise, was lined with sculpted walls of styrofoam coated in petroleum. The chance of fire was almost nil, but in case a sensor ever detected the probability of one, the alert system was a huge red button on the side of the chamber.

...but once pressed you couldn't let go. It activated an alarm system for the fire department to come and secure the situation. All involved were supposed to evacuate the building, but not the one who held the button. Releasing the button before the fire department arrived would cause the sprinkler inside to dump something ridiculous, like 40,000 gallons of water per minute, into the chamber and all over hundreds of millions of dollars worth of spaceflight equipment. And the video actually had the balls to tell the people watching it that they'd be responsible if they were the ones to sound the alarm.

So in summary, if an alert was ever given and you were stupid enough to be the one to sound the alarm, you'd be holding the fail-safe that occurs if the blaze is bad enough to char your body. And if you wuss out and leave before then, you may get a bill for $100,000,000 from the US government.

Sorry for the double post but I'm confused!? :dunce: Again... yeah, yeah, I know but... So you’re standing in this room, made of highly flammable and toxic materials, and if you hear this alarm go off, meaning there’s a good chance this VERY flammable room can catch fire, you can either:

Run away and let someone else press the button.

or

Push the button and hold it with the hope this very flammable room doesn’t actually catch fire and burn you and everything in it to a little charcoal.

or

Push the button and run. Destroying everything, reducing the chance you’ll be burned alive, but you might be charged for damages?

One of the guys in my unit used to work for Transport Company.
They drove many hours/day in MLVW (troop trucks). There's a red button on the dash for the starter (no keys required).
This newbie trooper has to ride in the truck with my friend, so he starts explaining how the truck works to kill time (and stay awake).
When he gets to the red button, :largeevil: he tells a story of how it's the self-destruct button. You know, Deny-The-Enemy and all that.
Kid nods his head. Truck is already running, so he hasn't seen it used yet.

Many hours later, while stopped, they get an alert to move.
They jump in the truck, and my friend hits the red button.
Woosh, the kid is out of the truck, running into the woods.
My friend is WTF? Then realizes, and starts laughing his @ss off.
His packet commander runs over to ask WTF is going on.
My friend can barely breathe, explains the self-destruct. They round up newbie, and go on.

You are just not used to it yet or maybe you don't have the volume turned up loud enough on the alarm on your phone. Speaking of alarms...how many alarms does your phone have anyway? Mine has 3 alarms plus a countdown timer as well. So basically, each day I can have up to 4 alarms going off in various increments. Most of the time I have no problem getting up with that thing going off at an annoyingly loud volume. Of course it also helps that I chose an annoying ring for the alarm as well to make sure that I would be able to hear it, get up, and turn it off. Just a few things for you to consider.....

I used to be the alarm clock for my parent's...

This one's got one alarm clock and then an infinite number of other settings i'm yet to explore. I can set any amount of reminders and so on though and everything has a Snooze feature.

The thing is, I haven't found a way to change what the alarm is. It's on its loudest volume (good thing) but it staggers itself. On my old Phone I'd set the alarm to a song I'd recorded etc adn that always managed to get me up. But I can't (and I'm not sure that I can) find a way to do it on this one...

Tsukasa Kusanagi
13-03-2006, 01:31
Hmm, I guess it depends. I'll wake up by myself if I have the will to the night before, for example last Saturday I left at 5:30am for something, so the night before I thought to myself several times "I HAVE to wake up at 4:30" and I did. However, I normally need a alarm on weekdays. . I hardly ever tell myself I have to wake up at 4:00am while I'm falling asleep at one or two . .

ArbainHestia
30-03-2006, 16:35
Well, I could do it with mirrors but where’s the challenge. I was thinking of another plan a la Dr. Evil’s methods. Using an over elaborate “time machine” I traveled back in time to the 60’s to when the US was making regular trips to the moon. During one of these trips I was able to stow away and upon arrival to the moon I escaped and build a very bright lunar base. Because of it’s brightness I decided to call this base the “death star”… because it’s almost as bright as a star… you know!

Anyway, with my evil henchmen I starting building prototypes (known as preparations A through G) of a “laser” and after several prototypes I’ve created a working “laser” called “Preparation H”. On the whole Preparation H feels good to me.

With my working “Laser” working, I traveled “Back to the Future” and now I plan on using my “Preparation H” on my back yard… or my backside. I think this should help clear things up faster. I guess I could use the mirrors to make sure my backside is clear!

Anyway… that’s what I was thinking!

Well, thankfully not all management people like to have meetings constantly. I hate meetings. 99% of the time they are pointless and take up valuable work time. Which is why I only set up meetings when absolutly necessary or when something needs to be talked about.

Saw this in News of the Weird:

"Crime Really Doesn't Pay: In July 2005, News of the Weird reported Jared Gipson's extremely bad idea of trying to rob Blalock's Beauty College in Shreveport, La. The 20 students and teachers inside (almost all women) beat him to a pulp with curling irons, hair dryers, chairs, a table leg, and their fists (leaving him with 21 cuts that had to be stitched).

In March 2006, Gipson, 24, was sentenced for that attempted robbery, and as a recidivist, got 25 years in prison (and might have received more except that several of the women asked the judge for leniency). [Shreveport Times, 3-4-06]"

Zulu time is the same thing as 'Grenditch Mean Time', its the just the military term for it so they don't need to say the whole thing 'Grenditch Mean Time'.

And any watch can be changed to GMT just change the time so it corresponds to the time zone there. As for an official clock that keeps GMT yes there is one, I think you can google it online and it will give you the exact time of GMT timezone.
