I am about done visiting them, they are down or horribly slogged about half the time I visit or try too.

When do you try to visit them? When patches come out for the game and during peak hours there is an expected overflow of users trying to use the forums, so it's understandable that it might be slow. However, ever since the new sever update, I haven't noticed any slowdowns, even when the biggie patch came out on the 10th. And I think tonight is the only time that the server has been down since the new server... and that was only a couple of hours. Seems pretty good for a free service to me?

That said.. you sure you don't have any spyware/adware hidden on your computer? Even the slow computers at my college campus zoom through the forums here, though a bit slower if I am using IE vs another browser.

I on occation have problems with the site not loading and getting a message saying document contains no data or something. This is the 1st time I have been able to get on the forums in over 3 days checking every hour or so while I was doing other stuff on the PC at different times of the day and occational just checking when i was doing other stuff around the house. I'm guessing there was a internet routing issue or site server issue as I tried at all sorts of times morning, mid day, afternoon, etc all the way up to late at night.

Over the last 3 days, the forums have only been down once, and that was today (yesterday, technically). They might have been a bit slow, but they werent down by any means.

And as Darwin said, we host several sites and their forums on these servers, so they are bound to get a little slow and a little bogged down, specially on WoW patch day. Im not sure why they were down today, but they are back up now and working at near lightning speeds :D

Ah thanks for the info. I guess the next time I have as much trouble with the site as I did this weekend I'll try and track down the issue. The only other time I had this much problems with the site was before the new server.

Well at this moment I'm left wondering why I had so much trouble. It didn't appear to be anything else during that time. Ah well I guess I just had some bad luck.

I'm slightly distressed to see that other people are typically not having trouble loading these forums... makes me wonder what's wrong with me...

I can't recall a time when the GWOnline forums were anything like "lightning fast". This is my GW home though... I can't imagine switching to a different fansite now.... I like it here. :happy34:

It typically takes me 30 seconds to a minute every time I click a link on these forums, be it to reply to a post or look at the next page in a thread... It's the same at work or at home and I don't have any trouble with other pages loading slowly. I haven't noticed any difference since the forums moved to new hardware the other day either. :(

I have no right to complain as I'm not a Pal... but why hasn't there been an improvement? Or could there be some other explanation?

The front page stuff loads lightning fast... but not the forum pages.

It goes in spurts for me. One second I can load pages as fast as can be, and the next it takes 2 minutes+ to load them. And it is literally second between clicks to load stuff. My only guess would be the demand on teh server at that particular time has an effect on how fast the page(s) load.

I have a page load timer in my browser and it takes me 20-120 seconds each link click. Unless I'm lucky and it will take 1s

I get the same thing too.
One click woulf take me instantly to the page I want while another takes a life time to load.

It appears to me that the forums are having a serious database problem. They will go fine for a few days after a crash, then get slower and slower. It also starts out acceptable in the morning, and gets progressivly worse during the day.
Unless the logged on numbers are incorrect 200 people should not have a significant effect on performance of any decent database engine. For months there would be 600 people + here, without any noticable slowdown, so either it's a hardware problem (Which seems unlikely since they changed servers recently) or the database has reached a size that is beyond the ability of the engine to deal with.
Perhaps dumping threads over 15 days old (meaning no responses) might be worth a try?

I get the same thing. I was hoping after the new server things would be way faster but as of the last week everytime I come here I'm at a snails pace. Perhaps this can be fixed...

No kidding, Darwin said that? *leafs furiously through Science textbook*

Anyway, yes, the forums have been buggy all day, at least as far as loading times are concerned. Unfortunately, this happens frequently and since there is no feedback from webmaster-types, it's anybody's guess what the problem is.

I was disappointed on Sunday, for example, to find that the forums were down all day, and well into Monday, without someone coming into the home page of GWonline.net and at least offering a placating explanation. It wasn't until I got into Guild Wars, and spoke with a fellow moderator who is also in my guild, that I found out it was universal and not just a problem with my browser.

Actually, the average is around or over 600 people at any given time... I dont know if you are only looking at one forum, but every time I check there are around or well over 600 people here.

Other than that, I honestly dont know what is going on. Do remember that we are running several sites' forums off one server, and if one of them gets busy, we all slow down a bit.
