View Full Version : Anti-farm code
I believe my W/E is now continuously triggering it. I did a forum search and wasnt satisfied with what I found. Can anyone explain this? There are obviously Chinese farmers who have it figured out, selling worthless un'id items, etc (theyre 99% worthless, you can check un'id items fairly thoroughly, you know). I'd like to be in the know like them, sooner than it would take me to learn chinese and read their websites.
Things i've noticed:
Changing 2ndary class gets rid of code for a short time (2-3 runs)
Changing areas for 1-2 rids code for a short time (1-2-3 runs)
Questing in the same area (desert, shiverpeaks, etc.) doesn't seem to help, even after questing for 2-3 hours.
Enlighten me, I'm not worthy.

How do you tell if its triggered? No matter how much I farmed Augury I still get 1k + 0~4 gold weapons per run, however in UW I've noticed that if you kill 3 mobs of aatxes/smites at once they drop like one mob (2~4 drops from ~10beasts, while when taking one mob(~3~4 beasts) you also get 2~4).

I bet I've farmed a lot more than you then. I remember those days of 0-4 golds. Alas, they're gone for me. Thus my question.
Fact: asian farmers spam un'id weapons
Fact: tons of em leave from augury (mo/w or mo/me mostly)
It's not about racism. But you must know they're doing it for profit, I have it from a guildy of mine who farmed UW with them. He quit in disgust after they would try to beg his rare drops away saying things like "I need". They sell the ecto too, not use it for FoW armour for themselves.
Btw: I'm not really farming to sell, I give away greens on a weekly basis (brohn's, tanzit's, drago's) and I customized a crystalline sword. I'm hooking up my poorer guildmates who don't have the time I do.
Does anyone have any helpful comments?
Last night I was up all night playing. In LA and Ascalon City there was an over-abundance of what I know was Asians selling un'id weaps and ecto. Their ecto prices were high at that 10.5k. Weapon prices were even worse un'id.
There was also what I think was frenchman selling un'id stuff. Whats ur secret to tell if its trash or not? I did get a decent deal from a frenchman by knowing a little French, but the weaps turned out to be trash anyhow. Wasnt his fault. Whats thier deal? Are they selling the gold online?

Unless the un'id item is in your inventory, I know of no way to determine the stats. When in your inventory, u can equip the un'id weapon and see what it does to your stats...gives u a fair idea of what it is (see other posts on the forums) :xmas5: .
I agree that "foreign" players appear to be the biggest group of farmers selling their bounty in the American districts...at least they pretend to not speak very good English when attempting to communicate with them. However, I do NOT see it as a problem since I make the decision to trade with them. Spamming trade items is an overall game problem; imho there is just too much of it permitted on non-trade channels. :xmas5:

To me its not really a foreign issue as much as it is a price issue. Ectos for 10.5k? lol - Example - Last night I tried to trade with a guy - 35k for an unid high req flamberge? What are these ppl thinking ? --->sry to steer from original topic. The Aussies I run into late are usually pretty darn cool though. Can always tell by m8 :)
Are they ruining farming and are they selling the gold online?

I'll let someone else explain this, I've already said too much...they're watching me.
Either way, it's time to level the playing field since it's all just monopoly money anyway. Why can some farm with impunity while others, like me, are too dull to put the pieces together.
Are they ruining farming and are they selling the gold online?
I think they may be (not ruining farming) based on my guildies experience and limited conversations (different ppl playing the same acct was one tip off). But it's your neck if you buy gold from them. Anet seems to have excellent tools and steady informants (fight the good fight!).
I believe the anti-farming code exists for bots and for profit farmers, mainly. That's why I ask for anyone who knows their tricks (obviously theyre still making money) to help a brother out (I keep trying to get back on topic).

It's as simple as that.

There is/was a way to ID weapons and armors with a kit to see what they are and then still turn around and have them listed as Unidentified. I stumbled across this exploit couple months back. Checked it a couple times to see if I cam up with the same results, then stopped with it. I haven't tried it since though. Beyond that I won't say anymore. Don't even ask about it.
...at least they pretend to not speak very good English when attempting to communicate with them. Many Americans can barely grasp the English language.
Somehow this all became about Chinese farmers. Tell you what, I don't care who farms what or what kind of underwear they have on when they do it.
There is a way to check un'id weapons that is not an exploit. It's just someone intelligently reading the description of skills, doing simple math, and voila. I PM'd opius about it, he can forward my PM to you if it's really blowing your mind. It blew my mind a bit, but I was already suspicious of 101010's gold farmers selling un'id weapons.
When I bought one, it was fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
Vexed hit the nail on the head. Personal choice. Trade or don't trade. Guess what Vexed, I'm a muckraker.
However, I believe in informing my fellow consumers, as a kinda watch dog. I prefer not to let sociopathic side of gamers rule the field. I help people do missions, for free, when I'm bored or want to practice. I'm a freakin saint, yeah for me, but human nature dictates I'm not always a saint, whoop dee do. You reap what you sow, in games, in life. Why? I don't know, but I've seen it again and again.
It's an attitude. Compare the SPF to bnet forums, if you're familiar with D2.
Now take all sturm and drang, set it aside and help me, or just let this thread die. I'm just trying to understand action and consequence, giving you data that I believe is valid (see first post).

maybe type somethign in as if you're talkin to someone but not...maybe that'll make it seem like you're not farmin but questing.
I'll try to stay on topic.
The criterias u mention seem likely but there seems to be very strange ones too. I never had a problem with subsiding drop rates(farming griffons) until after the AoE upgrade which made W/Mo less efficient. I changed to W/N and found a rather fun and efficient build. To my surprise the droprates of gold items decreased dramaticly. The first 10 runs went like they used to. After that I've made like 30-40 runs and come up with 2 or 3 gold drops and not even max ones. I've done quests/missions in between and for one week I didnt play at all. Still... the drops are horrible.
Now... I havent tried changing secondary though I find it hard to believe thats the major reason I get sucky drops.
off topic...
About the "asian farmers" or "profit farmers". As long as they're not using bots i cant see why ANet needs to "nerf" all the ways to earn gold/items. If someone wants to spend their time farming then let them. Leave the economy to the players. I cant see what could happen in a worst case scenario. The only useful things u get from farming that gives u the edge in PvE are the upgrades. The other stuff u can get from collectors or traders. The rest is just for show. If u nerf droprate of items u make items more expensive and harder for non farming players to obtain, right? Whats ANets plan I wonder...

My experience to a tee (or is it "T" or "tea", oh bother). It's like once you're classified as a frequent farmer...you're stuck with the code. I wonder if anyone's got a tried and true method for removing you from this blacklist.
off topic...
Yeah, as long as their not using bots, I don't really care either. It's all show.
I had a new person tell me he wanted to buy a gold fellblade, un'id. I told him it would be junk and why not just buy a clean one, and throw the money saved into neat mods. His answer was, but its gold. There I had to grin. Then I told him you could craft 15>50 swords and hammers, and the only one you couldnt was the 15>50 axe (imho the only one worth paying for, but heck 13>50 aint much difference for pve).
The scamming bothers me a little, the consumer being uninformed, but caveat emptor I guess. Who am I to ruin their livelihood. For me GW is just another one of my silly hobbies.

Another slightly off topic statement...
So I've heard many times-I'n some countries people pay kids to farm on games such as this one then sell everything for real money... The kids in return earn little pay. This is a horrible thing to be doing and I think Anet might have been trying to stop any sort of "profit farming".

It's most certainly not a rumour. Just do a google search for " " and you will see. First site I clicked had 1000 000 gold for $X. But u cant stop that. If u make it harder to farm u'll see 1000 000 gold go for $X times 10 instead. Its the same in all mmorpgs. The sad thing is how many hours it would take to acuire 1000 000 gold. Divide that with X and you have what the company that sells this earn. Divide it by 5? 10? and thats what the kid(?) doing is payed an hour. Even if they have awsome farming skills it cant be much
EDIT: Made it less obvious how to find these sites etc. Dont wanna encourage anyone :-)

How about instead of ANet making it harder to farm, why can't they make it harder to sell the gold? If the profit farmers can't sell their gold, ANet could restore farming so the recreational farmers can have it like it used to be.

Thats very interesting. As someone who has a fairly good idea of how GW is implimented (for not having ever been involved in the development) I have to wonder just what mechanic of the game is malfunctioning to create that effect.
I know how to discern an UNID items stats to with certain accuracy, but IDing then reverting them to being UNID is something I am confused by. It seems more like its a logic error, then a rollback or similar 'lag glitch', though I suppose that is possible. Could UNID items full stats be sent to the client, then revealed by IDing them while some packet sniffer blocked outgoing packets?
Oh, so difficult not to ask how it works!
I stumbled across it by accident. Did it a second time and got the same result which confirmed the truth of it. Then left it as is.
Time has passed since I posted that I haven't confirmed if it was still there or not. I have no plan on looking into it since it is an obvious exploit of a glitch.

Uber as usual is right. I'm talking about "discerning" items with a "certain" accuracy. For the good mods this certain accuracy is quite accurate (14>50 vs. 15>50 for weapons). Therefore, I would recommend you buy unid only from ignorant people (a few questions should satisfy you, unless theyre playing dumb...dang used-car salesmen).

Could you give a couple of tips to "diserning" items...i think i belong to the ignorant group of people , i just bought a crap gold unid shield.

Aussie's are pretty cool to play with. Always seem to be real respectable gamers.
I just recently switched from American servers to European servers. Somehow, I find the people there nicer to play with...

So back to the topic at hand... is there even a point to farming if eventually your account will just be slapped with a code that drastically reduces your chances for decent items? Can you farm and still avoid this code (e.g, farm griffons once, warp to beetletun and farm ettins once, warp somewhere else, etc.) Soloing pve is challenging enough to make it interesting, but if risk /= reward, why bother?
Many Americans can barely grasp the English language.
