N00bish Questions of N00bish Proportion.

Soooo, I just bought this game last Saturday (uhh.. 12/30/05, I think?) and currently have a 20 E/Mo... However, I'm the biggest n00b I've ever seen. All I really know how to do is blow stuff up and throw healing breezes around every now and then. I'm completely clueless to the majority of slang GW terminology. Now, in an attempt to save my n00bish soul, I've decided to post my questions on this board. (durrr..)

Ein: How do you get to the Hall of Heroes?

Zwei: What's a "battery?"

Drei: What's a "Rezmer?"

Vier: How do you gain Fame?

Fünf: How do you go up in rank?

Sechs: Do you get more faction from PvPing at higher level arenas rather than lower level ones?

Sieben: What's "Iway?"

Acht: Why are Ring of Fire missions so damned long?

Ein: How do you get to the Hall of Heroes?


From the Dragon cave in the desert. There is an exit to the Tombs of Primeval Kings, which are PvP Arenas. If you win a number of match in Tombs you end up in the Hall.



Zwei: What's a "battery?"


A Necro build where you sacrifice life to give energy to your allies, hence the name battery.



Drei: What's a "Rezmer?"


Contraction of Resurrection and Mesmer. A Mesmer/Monk with points in fast casting allowing him to cast the resurection spells really quickly.



Vier: How do you gain Fame?


By winning matchs in Tombs.



Fünf: How do you go up in rank?


By gaining fame. :).



Sechs: Do you get more faction from PvPing at higher level arenas rather than lower level ones?


Yes. Ascalon Arena rewards you with less faction. I think all other give you the same amount.



Sieben: What's "Iway?"


Iway = I will avenge you, a warrior skills. See gwonline for full description of the skill.

It is also the name of a popular build, where a group of W/R with pets "avenge" their pets.



Acht: Why are Ring of Fire missions so damned long?


Cause they are the final missions.

I will help you to the best of my knowledge but since your questions are PvP oriented I won't fill with too much details (I don't PvP).


Ein: How do you get to the Hall of Heroes?
Either you make a PvP character and head to the "Tomb of the primeval Kings" area or if you want to use your PvE character you go the Dragon lair (the mission right after your ascenssion), in this outpost you can enter TopK too.


Zwei: What's a "battery?"
A necro helping other players by giving them some energy (using some Necro elite spell).


Drei: What's a "Rezmer?"
PvP build for mesmers using fast casting to fast rez other player.


Vier: How do you gain Fame?
You gain fame by winning in HoH (and other fights leading to HoH). The more consecutive wins the higher the reward.


Fünf: How do you go up in rank?
You gain rank when you have enough fame...


Sechs: Do you get more faction from PvPing at higher level arenas rather than lower level ones?
Yes.


Sieben: What's "Iway?"
"I will avenge you" a warior skill. It's a build used in HoH, based on W/R with pets dying fast and then the warriors use this skill to regenerate and deal more damage. Necros are also part of the build... Check the PvP forum for more details!

Answers to your questions

Eins: You get to the Hall of Heros by winning PvP (Player vs Player) fights in Tombs of the Ancients.

Zwei: A "Battery" refers to a Necro that uses a specific skill (blood ritual?) to 're-charge' an allies energy. Normally called a "Battery Necro".

Drei: A "Rezmer" is a Mes/Mo or Mo/Mes. I *think* they use the skill 'Arcane Echo' with a ressurection spell to res more than one person at a time. I could be wrong on that point :p

Vier: You gain Fame by fighting in Tombs of the Ancients (see answer to question one)

Funf: By gaining a certain amount of Fame :eek:

Sehks: Possibly, I'm not sure.

Sieben: "Iway" is the skill "I Will Avenge You". It is used as part of a 'build' or set of skills.

Acht: Not really sure, I think they are so long because they are near the end of the 'original' (pre-Sorrow's Furnace expansion) game.

I think all your questions were answered above, but I'd just like to say that I'm taking German I this semester and we just learned numbers today and I recognized those all.

But the RoF missions are longer because they need more teamwork than the previous missions. These are the "last" things in the story, they should be a bit longer.
