View Full Version : Moves of the Ritualist
Hi everyone!
First I'd like to say that I am really looking forward to the 2nd chapter to play a ritualist.
But there is one thing I was rather disappointed about.
Its the moves when he attacks, and the way he kneels when he is casting a ritual. The attacks really look like "ow man I'm so drunk"
I do like the other casting animations where he does that weird turn, or when he stands on 1 leg while performing the ritual.
What do you think about his movement / looks?

This has been discussed on this topic (http://forums.gwonline.net/showthread.php?t=383049), but...

Keep in mind the Ritualist fights with his eyes closed. So he's not looking at where he's attacking, hence the weird animation when he wands someone.
And the kneeling animation...That's pure African black magic, summoning one Loa or another :afro:

Well IMHO the ritualist animations are EXCELLENT. I really loved them. They give the class a really unique flavor with the shamanistic/tribal feeling. They are definately my favorite out of all the professions.......now if only I knew what their dance is........

I noticed, quite surprised, that some female ritualists could dance. It was flamenco, they clapped their hands very fast and kicked the ground.
As for the OP, I like the way they move, very shamanistic, it looks like they are possesed by (not surprisingly) spirits while attacking and that they are in a trance while casting spells.

I believe that's the /excited emote. Female elementalists do this as well (other classes too, maybe?), unless I'm misinterpreting what you're talking about.

Only some of the emotes were included for the Rt and A professions for this last weekend and both were using (temporary) Ele and Ra emotes.
Doubtless they will both eventually have their 'rightful' /dance, /laugh, /fistshake etc emotes all of their own.
As for the casting and attacking moves, I think they are 'just right' and very apt for the Rt profession.

I was really intrigued by the spell casting moves and the combat moves, I thought it was really cool and different. I have no idea where they got the ideas but I would guess from spirit based religious culture's ritual dances.

Female Mesmer and Necro also have that /excited emote.

I was just completely fascinated by the spiraling casting movements of the ritualist. The spiraling, pointing casting when my ritualist cast obsidian flame on a near death foe, was like a gesture of doom, marking them for the afterlife... So awesome!
