I've always found Necro subclass to be useful on warriors. . .I was thinking how it would be on an Assassin.

I'm sure there is a better setup, but here's a rough build I was messing with earlier.

Assassin/Necromancer
Level: 20

Critical Strikes: 11 (10+1)
Dagger Mastery: 15 (11+4)
Curses: 10

Plague Touch (Necromancer Other)
Rigor Mortis (Curses)
Black Mantis Thrust (Dagger Mastery)
Temple Strike [Elite] (Dagger Mastery)
Horns of the Ox (Dagger Mastery)
Falling Spider (Dagger Mastery)
Blades of Steel (Dagger Mastery)
Resurrection Signet ()

Basically just run Rigor Mortis, and lay down an impressive chain on someone.

Plague as backup against blind.

I was also thinking this would be pretty nasty:

Assassin/Necromancer
Level: 20

Critical Strikes: 12 (11+1)
Dagger Mastery: 14 (10+4)
Death Magic: 10

Plague Touch (Necromancer Other)
Disrupting Stab (Dagger Mastery)
Wild Strike (Dagger Mastery)
Twisting Fangs (Dagger Mastery)
Virulence [Elite] (Death Magic)
Consume Corpse (Death Magic)
Critical Eye (Critical Strikes)
Resurrection Signet ()

Using Virulence after Twisting fangs. . . (Obvious)

Consume COrpse is also extremely useful. I don't know why I don't see more people using it.

Anyway how do you think either would stack up against some of the mainstream assassin builds that people have been realeasing?

I have the feeling your build is aiming more at PvP than PvE. If that's true, I would say everything else depends on what kind of PvP you're playing - if you're in a team at HA, your team mates could take care of some problems you may have. If you're in Random Arenas, it would be good to me more self suficient, and then your build would have some problems, etc...

Consume Corpse is used a lot in HA. It's often used by Mesmers with Fast Casting to avoid having a Necromancer using the bodies for wells or something. The problem is that often you'll be placed just where an ally died - surrounded by enemies, within an enemy ward of well, etc...

Yeah the top build is strictly PvP. .. If it's a team PvP build i'd include some info on what the team would be like. Also Horns of the Ox will probably be the worst PvE skill since the mobs are usually huddled.

THe second one I feel could be used for both PvE or PvP. Your teamates might complain that your GIving them Degen, but there's worse things.
