View Full Version : Restoration + Soul Twisting: Too Powerful?
Restoration: Create a level 1-8 spirit. When this spirit dies, all allies in the area are resurrected with 5-41% Health and zero Energy. This spirit dies after 30 seconds.
Soul Twisting (e): Destroy target allied spirit. The next Binding ritual you perform casts 66% faster and recharges instantly. This is an elite skill.
I don't think I need to explain the combo potential.

I think soul twist on Union, Shelter, or Shadowsong is where it's at.
Using it on Restoration would be fun too though.

You'd still need to get past Restoration's initial 45 second recharge though... so if you were going to use this combo to hold down a position, you'd have to get there early.
Unless you cast it at the start of battle (when the timer is still ticking) and immediately soul twist it.
Just bring along another spirit and Soul Twist that into Restoration. Not a problem.
Also remember Restoration auto-dies when another Restoration is made.

41% health and no energy is considered overpowered? o.O Sheesh, if you think that's bad, I wonder how much you think Rezmers need to be nerfed? ::P
I'm not saying it's not *useful*, but I'd consider it far from overpowered. But it raises the question; will Light of Dwayna be buffed, since let's face it, Restoration will render it all but useless?

And to the OP, resurrecting allies in the area isn't all that powerful. At most you'll get maybe two guys, usually one. If you're team is in a position where you have to use Restoration, you're pretty much done anyways. There are far better spirits to combo with Soul Twisting (Union anyone?) than Restoration.
Would union not die before you can kill it yourself with soul twisting? Or would you soultwist an other spirit to cast union faster?
Does soul twisting have more advantages than ritual lord?

There is 1 spell that is very powerful, when you die your automaticly ressurected! It works pretty great in PvP but with Ri's inability to heal effectively, I died pretty quick reguardless of my efforts.

thing is: in the area is "in the caster circle"
and: it is WHEN THIS SPIRIT DIES ppl get rezzed, so who cares about it being killed too fast if you want to soul twist it?
you'll only not get the bonusses (but i guess you can still soul twist your other spirits (assuming you have em) for the bonusses)

imagine after you had casted restoration already, then you just stick around it and fight but then accidentally died? Then the restoration (if some memberes are still alive) will automatically res you :) So maybe this could be the just-in-case spirit that would be essential to many builds. Like just have the ritualist cast it over and over again, like in alter maps especially, you'd have an easy automatic res

also, soul twisting is good because you can use it while you're doing something else. So you could soul twist your old restoration while you're casting your new one. well, at least thats how it worked in the FPE.

Neat Combo, but Restoration's range is too small, and it casts too slowly... I just dont see the use.

Actually, since Binding Rituals are not spells, it's not any interrupt that can stop them. Power Drain/Surge/Leak don't work, for example, neither does Choking Gas.
And I take it the Mesmer skill you are talking about is Unnatural Signet? The skill that does as much damage against a spirit as Flare? I'm not too concerned about it - what would the Mesmer do in this combo, kill the spirit before you do so you'll be resurrected sooner?
I don't think it's overpowered, thanks to the low health, zero energy and small range of the spell. If anything, I think it's kind of useless.

And that's been proven several times.
Keep in mind that the OP was a MONTH before the FPE...
I've used it before with Soul Twisting, I had to practically have it on top of my teammates some reason for him to be rezed... I don't know, I guess I have to try again sometime, cause I remember putting it only like 3 feet away and when it died, it didnt rez anyone...
