Which Ritualist Are You Going To Play?

Please just fill out the poll and post your choice and reasons why you are playing that Ritualist in a reply. Also, if you know already, any theoretical build ideas for your R/x would be interesting to see.

Let's see which Ritualist will be the most popular!

Rt/A for Assassin skills for PvP.

If anyone says anything else, I'll be quite surprised.

yep, already got full unlock on current class skills so Rt/A for unlocking both class together.

Probably more interested in the ash-pots and weapon spells, since they're more mobile than binding ritual spirits, though binding rituals aren't spells so I might include a couple when mesmers and other anti-spellcasters turn up.

I didn't vote.

I'm not sure which second prof I want yet I guess I'll have to see what kind of Ri I'm gonna be first and what to specialise in.

I'm going to be running a Rt/N for several reasons.

I think that the Ritualist has a similar flavor to the Necromancer and flavor-wise and would fit nicely together. Also, I think that this class would have a lot of versatility even with early skills. This would allow me to fill different roles in PvE and PvP alike. Another major reason, I want to see how some spawning skills will work with Animated Bone spells.

Here are some builds I am going to try:

Why Heal When You Can Steal?
Restoration, Channeling, Blood
Vampiric Gaze
Nightmare Weapon
Vengeful Weapon
Sprit Transfer
Blood Renewal
Offering of Blood [e]
Well of Blood
Flesh of my Flesh

The Destruction of Creation
Spawning, Death Magic
Animate Bone Minions
Animate Bone Fiend
Death Nova
Taste of Death
Verata's Sacrifice
Boon of Creation
Explosive Growth
Ressurection Signet

I put Ri/R. Spawning + ranger spirits might be useful... But I would think Oath Shot might work wonders with Ritualist spirits.

Playing PvE is not only to unlock things for PvP. But to have fun doing missions, quests, etc. Personally I dont see much use for an Assassin secondary other than Spirit Walk. It is also likely they will be giving us 2+ character slots so I would play both assassin and ritualist to unlock skills. So I chose Ranger secondary for use of pets combined with weapons. I also have to possibilitys to take back up spirits from the ranger line. Also I can protect my spirits with some traps or make use of Serpents Quickness in a nice Channeling build. I also need to unlock ranger skills =P
Seeing as well be getting new skills for each profession this is not for sure...

I'll be playing Ri/Mo or Ri/N, both sound intriguing, but I can't decide. And I'm glad you pointed out we'll be getting new skills for each class, it seems like a point a lot of people are forgetting. With the new PvE system they are going to implement (like joining a faction and so on), I want a secondary that will be useful and a character that I can enjoy, instead of just going for both skillsets at once.

I'm with you on this. I'm looking forward to trying out some MM on a ritualist; mabey even use the new Elite Minion that leaves a corpse.

It's going to be very tricky to peal me away from E/A, but if it did go Ritualist it would definetly be Rt/R for the access to additional spirits.

I'm sure you guys saw the spirit control build I posted.

Best thing i've made so far for Ritualist.

I think im going to go Ri/E fo the channeling magic and the air magic try out some of the combos. If that dosnt work i might try the restoration and the wards etc etc.

I'm planning to play an A/Rt that makes use of some of the weapon spells (but mainly to unlock Rt skills for PvP), but I also plan on running an Attuned Was Songkai (aka 0 energy heals) Restoration Ritualist in PvP.

I think I will go Rt/Mo. Stay away from spirits, just focusing on resto and monk prot/utility. For pve.

I'll also go for a Rt/Mo, basically to do the same as elruid.

well, i'm in doubt. there are so many things i wanna try out to see how it works.

the combinations i'm drooling(lol) about are:

ritualist/ranger this is the one i'm definetly going to play in pve and will be massive in pvp too! healingspells, attackspells, evasion/blockskills, spirits, traps, bow, pets. i think this combination will just be a unique experience trying out everything perfectly and having loads of fun finishing the campaign:grin:. i love the ranger but somehow i didnt find it coming to it's full potential with the classes in the first release of guildwars. these 2 new classes are definetly going to change that completely!

ritualist/mesmer this could be great for pvp, quickly recharging energy. most handy for a healingritualist(wich i somehow love to play, hated the monk but i had so much fun with this one in the pvpweekend:smiley: ) or someone using bigenergyspells.

the ones im not so fond of:

rit/mo tried it in the pvpweekend, i played a healingritualist and it turned out i didnt even use monkskills but all ritualistskills and i kinda stood ground with it and it worked pretty fine.

rit/a im gonna make an assasinprimary(assasin/ranger off course:wink: ) anyways so i dont care about unlocking the skills with 1 char.

I will likely be playing a Me/Rt. I'll have max restoration with a decent amount in inspiration and some in fast casting. What exactly can you do with a ritualist primary? Well you get more durable spirits, but you don't need spirits to be effective with restoration, so it's better suited as a secondary. Plus fast casting some of the longer spells - like Flesh of My Flesh - will be so good. Inspiration offers many different ways to regain energy fast. Of course, I get to advertise myself as a healer so I won't be waiting long to go on missions like all the other assassins out there.

I am hoping a Channeling Ritualist will be viable and until I know if it is I won't be snapping to decisions.

As for the Monk versions the Mo/Rit will always be superior since it can make the most out of the primary attribute Divine Favor.

I think I'll be playing a pure ritualist at the start, but as it will have to decide, it'll have mesmer ( <- most likely) or warrior to secondary.

Ps Voted for Rt/Me

It's not a question of whether a Ritualist or a Monk is better at healing, because I also agree that a monk is more effective. A potential problem with Mo/Rt is that monks use their secondaries for energy management, so simply having more varieties of healing doesn't make it more efficient. Also, there's already a shortage of monks in PvE because they avoid PUGs and there will be a greater shortage of monks in Factions, especially when the game first comes out as everyone wants to try the new classes. I think restoration ritualists will be highly in demand and that they will be effective enough for PvE at least in the early and mid stages of the campaign.

Im going to use The Rt/Mo because some of the spirits and restoration spells will bring a new twist to healing but tho healing is what alot of ppl need these days i think im going to make a kill Rt/Mo Prot< yeah i said it a Prot more or less a bond...first use bond on every one then the bonding spirit rts have..and BAM you got aloooot of bonding and ppl would be taking NO damage..and lets just say inperticularly for the Oro and Sf Green Farms where warrior hold the gear...use the weapon spell that causes health stealing and keep him healed with Flesh of my Flesh or something...OR since everyones focused on the warrior use the spirit that heals every 3 seconds or whatever...i think its beutiful

I'll probably use monk as secondary. I plan to be full ritualist but the resurrection skills that come with the class suck big time, and I'm being nice here, so I'm looking forward to get Rebirth. Plenty of people get monk secondary just for that skill. I'll be among them.

I plan on going with a Ritualist/Ranger to play with Beastmastery and the weapon spells. It looks like the class would offer alot of support for the pets, plus I am hoping for some new pet types in Factions.
