View Full Version : Hit & Run Degen Assassin (R/A)
1. Apply Poison
2. Jagged Strike
3. Fox Fangs
4. Twisting Fang
5. Shadow Form(1337)
6. Shadow of Haste
7. Troll Unguent
8. Res Signet
Attributes:
Expertise: 9 (+2 from Major Expertise Rune)
Wilderness Survival: 6 (+1 from Mask, +3 from Sup Wilderness)
Dagger Mastery: 12
Shadow Arts: 7
How to run this build:
When you see a group of enemy(assuming its alliance battle) target 1 enemy
then Apply Poison
Use Shadow of Haste, then quickly followed by Shadow Form.
Run to your target, unleash Jagged Strike, Fox Fang and Twisting Fang..
Jagged Strike - Start the initial Bleeding for the first few seconds
Fox Fang - Deal some damage..you can change to something else
Twisting Fang - the best part of the combo: lengthens the bleeding duration and cause Deep Wound, which lowers the Health of your enemy, accelerating the degen speed.
After the combo, your Shadow of Haste should be over and you'll return to your original spot. If timed correctly, Shadow Form should be over and you'll be left with 26 health.
Cast Troll to recover your health..then rinse and repeat..
I'd suggest using Sentry armor since it adds defense when you're in stance..and using Shadow Form is not a MUST when you're attacking an enemy.

PFt, Whatever. It still has an Assassin and uses Assassin skills heavily. Get over it >_>

So do all the R/A builds which exclusively use Sin skills, hmm?
I've been using a variation of this in PvE and liking it a lot. She's all I've been playing this weekend.
Haven't tried Shadow Form. I'm not that confident. Ending up with 26 health in the wrong spot would hurt bad. For defense, I've been running:
-Flashing Blades (E): For 5-17 seconds, you have a 50% chance to block incoming attacks while attacking.
-Shadow Refuge: For 4 seconds, you take half damage. When Shadow Refuge ends, you are healed for 30-102.
They seem to be working well. Shadow Refuge is nice... 5 energy, nice heal, 8 second recharge. I like the 4 second recharge on Jagged Strike as well. You can hit a target with your applied poison and bleeding... get your henches/team hitting the target.... jump to another target and tag him with bleeding and poison, then go back to the first target whos health is now low from the beating of your henches/party, and slap that Twisting Fang deep wound on him.
I prefer to save the deep wound until they are low on health. I've gotten pretty good at estimating when they have about 1/5 life left.... 20% health reduction from deep wound when they are that low and... thud! They drop.
My last time out with her I threw some points into Beast Mastery and gave her Beastial Fury. A dual weilding ranger attacking 33% faster is a beautiful thing.

'Acutally, yes. As long as they are ragner primary.

What the hell are you talking about? It's cleary an assassin build, but instead of critical strikes it uses expertise. Are you on crack?

'Acutally, yes. As long as they are ragner primary.
There are only two Ranger skills here, Apply Poison and Troll Unguent. It's built around the Assassin style of fighting (melee) and not the Ranger's (ranged, by bow or pet, or traps). It's therefore an Assassin build more than Ranger, even if Ranger is primary.
For the benefit of the doubt, you can place this in either the Assassin or Ranger forums. The people posting there are just as capable of posting both Assassin or Ranger suggestions for the build. After all, no single player of GW is a real specialist in just one profession, and I wouldn't be surprised if many Ranger posters knew how to play Assassin as well.
But all that said, it's just more appropriate here.
So, bugger off. Unless you can help the OP with developing his build constructively, instead of being unhealthily obsessive-compulsive with where this thread should go, let's not have anymore trouble or digression, shall we?
Back to the topic...
Is this for PvP or PvE? 'Coz if it's for PvE, you could find your build totally negated in certain areas or maps, like the Undead-dominated areas of Kryta. Remember that non-living targets neither get poisoned or bleed.
For that matter, you can't really hit-and-run in PvP. Unless you can do solid damage immediately or tie up the rest of a team, some builds can easily survive multiple conditions if given space and time to heal. Some competent Monks can also remove conditions.
Lastly, consider working more on your Ranger side. Having access to Ranger runes rather than Assassin one might mean it's better if you focus more on being a Ranger. For example, I'd prefer Escape as my elite, rather than Shadow Form- but that's just me.
Good luck on your build.

Okay. Big words don't hide the fact that you haven't read the rules. Try that, llok for something along the lines of proper placement of posts. Now with your nonsence taken care of I can get back...
On-topic
Shadow Form is a no-no in this build. Even if you rush them from the 100' mark you will be killed. I made this build and I found it uneffective because of that skill. However, it could definately hold its own when I replaced Shadow Form with a stance that blocks 50% of the time.

And citing the rules doesn't mean you're not trolling. Flashing them before me as a threat doesn't do much for either me or you, especially considering you were the one who began trolling this thread and not saying anything constructive to help the OP until after I told you to do so.
As for proper placement of posts, please answer these questions:
1. Is this guy's character an Assassin or not?
2. Does this guy's character function as an Assassin or not?
3. If yes to any or both of the previous questions, where would suggestions for this guy's build best come from?
BTW, if you're going to call what I said nonsense, at least spell "nonsense" (and "look") correctly.

1.Well at the creation screen, I'm pretty sure this build tells you to press ranger...
2.It uses skills from both classes, however I will not beat around the bush. It uses skills from both classes.
3.I suppose it could go either way, sorry.
FTR, I wasn't threatening you with them. All I did was advice you to read them. Not say "HEY! If you don't read these you gonna get banned foo!" Yeah.
This build is for PVP..you can use it in PvE, but switch out Shadow Form with something else...
IF YOU HAVE READ MY TOPIC, THE PRIMARY is RANGER AND SECONDARY IS ASSASSIN
Is this for PvP or PvE? 'Coz if it's for PvE, you could find your build totally negated in certain areas or maps, like the Undead-dominated areas of Kryta. Remember that non-living targets neither get poisoned or bleed.
Yup... there are things in Kurzick that I've gotten that annoying "target is immune to poison/bleeding" meassage from. Don't remember exactly what they were. But, most things are fleshy there and that's where I've had this character.
For that matter, you can't really hit-and-run in PvP. Unless you can do solid damage immediately or tie up the rest of a team, some builds can easily survive multiple conditions if given space and time to heal. Some competent Monks can also remove conditions.
I'm not much of a PvPer, but I used a build like this during the last Factions PvP event. She did quite well in the arenas. Just keeping a target under continous poison seems to be effective. Plus the constant chipping away at HP from the dagger skills. It's not an uber thing, but it's fun.
Lastly, consider working more on your Ranger side. Having access to Ranger runes rather than Assassin one might mean it's better if you focus more on being a Ranger. For example, I'd prefer Escape as my elite, rather than Shadow Form- but that's just me.
Granted, the most you can get is 12 points into any Assassin attribute, so it is a limitation. The Shadow Arts just sound so cool, but, they may not be that beneficial to a Ranger primary.
I mainly created this character because I can't stand the "look and feel" of the Assassin characters. Now, I really like her! I'd love to hear some more ideas on how to use this combination... just don't even THINK of trying to take away her daggers!
Both of you stop now or Your getting a 5 day ban.
I'm happy for this build to be in either forum, It's primarily a Sin buld using expertise to keep the energy and heals going. I've allowed Necro primary beast master builds etc in the ranger forum and I'll allow other prime sin builds in here. If it needs moving a mod will do, leave at that and stop fighting the both of you.
DOH! Escape!! gahh stupid me!!!
You know I considered about using escape, but which one sounds better? Escape or Shadow Form?
OBVIOUSLY Shadow Form =), k i'll switch to Escape later
but if you know you'll be fighting against SS necro, use Shadow Form and have a monk back you up.
