Can a Ritualist be blinded?

I didn't get much time to play over the preview weekend so I never got into a situation that caused blindness on my Ritualist but I was thinking about this the other day,

As a Ritualist covers his/hers eyes all the time are they immune to the condition blindness? If not, why not?
