A friend of mine found these before me and guided me to where they were, but we were wondering what exactly the runes on the pillars meant. Some of the pillars are higher than others and the area around the pillars is full of Inferno Imps for some strange reason. This is in the Talmark Wilderness and on the path leading there I saw what looked to be depictions of the Eye of Janthir leading up to the rune pillars.

My nickname for them is the Drill+rune=Drune Pillars for obvious reasons shown in the pics.

Can anyone decipher these runes or tell me if they're based off other runes in the game?

Check out the Compedium of Tyrian Sciences, 8th Ed. Eratimus's rune research is included within it, and may shed some light on this.

Is there nothing you guys haven't found out about Tyria yet? :undecided: I guess I'll have to look forward to learning about Cantha's mysteries since from the looks of it you guys have Tyria covered.

If I may brag, this Lore Forum is the foremost authority on Guild Wars lore on the web! If it can be figured out, someone from this forum probably will. I wouldn't be surprised if the devs and storywriters come here to find ways to tie things together.

I'm personally very proud of everyone here. After all, why do mysteries exist but to be solved?

Leon, did Eratimus's article answer your question on the runes?

Not very much, but I did like the theory on how those runes may have been used to create some of the Druids' temples. You know...I wonder if they'll release a chapter unveiling where the Druids ran off to.

I must say I was impressed at how you guys knew of the Crystal Desert even before Anet even released news of it's existence. Heh,makes me want to join the Tyrian Academy of Sciences. Not only to help out,but so I can learn of some of this stuff or be taught what to look out for on the field.

Though what surprises me is,how did he find out those Spires/Pillars used to be a tree?

You can tell by the rings in the bark and the texture of the material on the pillars.

Ah,didn't notice that. Though the pillars in Pre-Searing around that tower on the mountain looked similar except for those runes.

To be honest, debate is always open unless inexplicably proven in game. If you would like to reopen discussion on this topic, feel free to do more research and formulate your own theory. However, keep in mind that it is unlike Eratimus is 100% wrong, and that some of his theories should be taken into consideration in research of this area of lore.

Look at the pillars and you should see the similarity.

Anyway, around the Talmark Wilderness Spires,as they have been called, you can see a bit of wall sticking out of the ground which really supports the fact that it was once a temple. Maybe whoever worshipped there, was praying to power the runes?

Yes, that has already been pointed out in the Mursaat thread actually.

You should notice runes at the very base of some of those pillars.

Ah,forgot about that. Runes at the bottom of the pillars too? I think I'd need to go back there to see that.

The runes on the Wizard's Folley pillarsa are hard to see, and theres only really one on all of them. Its a downwards pointed Arrow, with a line under it. Looking over the web I've found Futhorc runes that look quite like them, but haven't been able to find out thier appropriate meaning when they are inverted or flipped - that said, Futhorc runes, at least in my experiance do have meaning when flipped.

More on that later...so I'm sorry if theres a double post, but I dont think I'll be able to gather the information in 8 mins...:P
