Upon seeing the picture of the bridge and minor ruins, I immediately thought of post-Ascalon. The bridge itself looks like some new designs coming to us from Nightfall.

The picture of the buildings remind me of things found in the deserts of Phrophecies. From looking at the picture, the big flat white part of the furthest buildings looks like some type of ferry bridge that lowers into a dock for ships. We can see one of the ships in the background.

Your thoughts?

Edit: I am excitedly awaiting the Nightfall Campaign map, to see if it is dissjointed like Factions or not.

The pictures of the buildings are most certainly built by the same people who built the urban settings of the Desert--the Elonians.

Maybe the Elonians in the Deserts used some of Ascalonian architecture as well? I ask this since I see a more primitive style of building in the new Nightfall wallpaper in comparison to some buildings found in the desert.

Of course it is still really early and there will be a lot more structured buildings in Nightfall main cities, ect.

For right now, maybe the strutctures in the current Nightfall screens be a more primitave culture than the Elonians.

We're looking at arena though in both those pics if I'm not mistaken. If anything the towns buildings will be more structured.

The problem is that we don't have a timeline yet. What if those structures are ancient ruins, built way before the Elonians went to the desert, for instance.

Yup, timeline should be taken in consideration too.

Well, we also need to consider cultural influence. If that is simply the building style of the Elonian people, then timeline doesn't really matter.

yes, or they could be built by a culture after the elonians. There are at least two cultures who failed at ascension after they did. *taken from Turai Ossa at Amnoon Oasis

But the Elonian ghosts specifically say that they built the "urban-like ruins" in the desert.

I'm not expert on architecture or anything, but those pillars seriously remind me of the ones used in Egyptian temples - albiet, slightly less decorated.

Yes, I would say that they are drawn from the Desert Structures, as to me they seem to bear a resemblence to those found in the Statue Temple there.

Well both the towers and Elonian buildings remind me of Casbahs, the ship behind the nighfall picture is definitely in Egyptian style. This would definitely indicate a connection between Elonians from the Crystal desert and Nightfall.

It's true we don't have a timeline; however we have to consider two factors:

1) they are going to have some story hook that allows you to bring your other characters into the new campaign and

2) the Dragon Festival events were reported to be a preview to some of the storyline of Nightfall. I believe there are actual quotes from someone not rumours; I am not going to put words in Gaile or The Frog's mouth though!

So; I would be lead to believe some sort of crisis; and a lot of emphasis on storyline that takes place during or after Factions. Maybe during; since they could kinda do that with campaigns coming out in rapid succession.

Those pictures are the new arenas. Gotta love the music there.

Yes it would seem that the urban structures in the CD are Elonian, while those that resemble deconstructed sh ips, ie the buildings that still look like ships were done by the Margonites when they converted their ships to living structures. I suspect the Elonians came after the Margonites using some of their material, while leaving remnance of the ship like buildings of the Margonites.

I've taken quite a few screenshots through the game of the different architecture, if anyone who doesn't (or does) have the game is interested...

Oh, and I know almost nothing about architecture so my descriptions are probably way off. Also could be some spoilers of later areas in the game.

The first one seems like more of an Anasazi style structure. I may be saying that just because it's up in the cliff, but that is what it reminds me of. I'm not sure of the third pic..I'd say you may be right about Indian, but that seems a bit...off from the North Africa theme does it not? I would take a guess and say those pics you titled Arabian are Arabian. Can't say for sure. The next set of pics you titled Indian..I'd have to say they look like that or they seem to have a Persian influence.

Don't take my word on much of what I've said in the above, those were, for the most part, guesses.

For the last pic, I'd have to say it reminds me of Greek architecture. I'm probably thinking that because of the upper part of the buildings design. I feel ashamed that I can't say right off the bat what these are. Meh..More to learn and lots of time to do it! (Glorfnar's Ghost I never thought I'd say that..)
