So, supposedly there's some antifarm fix in place where the more often you hit up a spot, the lamer the drops. I farm so rarely that I attribute my "bad times" to chance. But anyway, I was just wondering how often most players farm an area.

Not much, I have everything I need and just about everything I want.

Well, I don't farm much, but recently, I find myself wanting items that cost quiet a bit of $. So, I'm gonna to start to farm. Now I know most people say they don't.. but they do. The most famous place, IMO, is Droks. Almost any kind of character can farm it. Now, don't get me wrong, you still get good drops, just not as often. Find 3-4 differnt farm spots and farm them 1 per day.. this way it will increase your chances of getting rare items.

Odd thing happend to me the other day I was running one of my characters from lions arch to sanctum and I get the anti farm message first time out huh?

Very wierd since I have not killed a single thing and that was my first time out!

Anyway lemme get back on topic , I farm only when my funds get lower then usual , to me thats not going below 500k mark on my main account.

I would like to farm but GvG takes more time than I want to spend on computer so... Not much time to farm.

recently i have been farming at least 30k each day, this is because i am starting a new job soon so will have limited time to play, so i thought i would save up a lot of cash in advance.

Normally when i farm i either farm a route 3-4 times then move somwhere else for 3-4 runs then back to the first one to reset the code, or i make a farm run that takes me through a warp point or two which helps stop the anti farm code from kicking in.

I farmed Thursday - Monday last week and almost made around 1000k which I spent 800k on ecto and the rest on shards and so far I've farmed 149k and intend to do 1000k again by monday.

I need a life but theres nothing else to do but farm/run people.

I've started chest running recently, just to get that 15k armor for the ol' ranger & necro and that creapy FoW armor for ehh some 'special' character. :azn:
After that I want to complete my collection of weapons; my ranger is allready ok. but I still need a 15^50 chaos axe for & a crystalline sword for my warrior.
I will never stop probably, it's one of my things to do in Guild Wars. Get the best equipment, and don't stop there.

I farm daily (different places and mobs on different charachters never 1 spot twice in a row), not as much as I used to but still try to make ~50k a day.

I've played (been addicted to) a korean grinding type MMO before GW and farming was a nice way to gradually kick the grinding habbit. I like farming. When I first started to play it was fun for me to see how much I could make in a day. Nowadays it's more about trying the more difficult spots, new builds and optimizing money/time ratio's.

I haven't farmed for money, although I've only really farmed small amounts of faction via Jade Arena/Kurzick Duelists when I needed to top up faction for amber/jade.

I farm alot , but between farming or even durning farming I have a quest up so it helps increase the chances of getting better drops.
I have gotten Mossbreads wand 3 time in one day as well as shreaders Talon's . Granted shreader's talons are not worth much but hey it is gold.
Also I have gotten the stonereaper once and it is not a bad price at 15k. I have averaged 100k in two days time , even jusk drops are worth something. So just farm

Daily, I've never hit the anti farming code at all yet, basically I farm constantly there is pretty much nothing else I do other than farm.

I even have a 2nd PC which runs a mule behind me that stays at the portal, when I get too full from going through about 3 zones, I dumb it all off to the mule, the mule heads back to my GH, and idents everything, sell it all off the the aproperate places, hold the gold until my farmer toon is full again, and then gives over the gold to my main account.

Now if only I had 3 or 4 accounts :D you'd see a stream of (MULE) heading out a portal.. the mule train LMAO.

currently at : 692,436 .. only 300,000~ to go to the magic 1000,0 which is the goal, not to buy anything with it, but it's a goal a by far more worthy and useful title :)

I 've farming Archipelagos a lot recently to get XP for Signets of Capture. I also do The Jade Arena and Luxon Supply Lines quests, since combined those add another quick 4K xp each time.

Wow, how long do spend each day farming to achieve 30K/day, 50K/day or 100k/day?

I farm daily, lotta money etc. I've yet to see or experience any type of anti-farm code. I do the same spot over and over etc etc. I would think it was a myth had I not experienced it only once before wayyyy back in the day.

My farm rate is between 12-15k per hour, depending what price the salvage materials trade in at. This count doesn't include any lucky drops you might get that could be sold for quite a bit (eg. sup vigor, gold weapons etc).

IMO, smart trading > farming. Millions without the grind.

I still farm though, but it's more about having fun with it than making as much gold as possible. I mainly just enjoy working out strange builds to solo especific areas, some of which are particularly profitable or simply yield particular items which I either want or know are valuable. Still, this doesn't make up for as much of my play hrs as I'm sure it does for others.

I farmed for around 87 hours with breaks in between no sleep last week, that was a nightmare :P

I chest run from time to time, to get a little cash when i need a new weapon, a rune ect. but I've been having trouble selling my items... I have i think 15+ golds and a few purples, and no one to sell them to... It's crazy 2 15% damage always bows and no one wants to buy them!

Aye. That bug has recently bitten me too, while I farmed spiders for their beautiful silk. (My Ritualist needed a suit of Exotic, what can I say) So, while I haven't farmed much before, the idea of stocking up on materials and so forth for the inevitable shortages when Nightfall is released is oh so appealing.

And of course the random little spikes here and there. It's actually quite fun and I never thought it would be!

So, currently, I try to spend an hour or two a week gathering materials, basically.

Lord Valdrum

Materials aye? I have an entire character full of wood :S lol I have around 2000 of each material, excluding ecto and shards but still have a fair amount. Apart from the things I'll probably never use like ruby's etc.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who enjoys trading.

I used to do a lot of material trading as well, but now I mostly just do a lot of weapon trading. I mean, as long as you stay up to date on what things are going for, you make quite a lot by just buying low and selling high. If you see something for sale at what you know is a cheap price, then just buy and resell. These last couple of days I bought a staff for 50k and sold it for 80k, bought a bow for 150k and sold for 275k; I even bought a very nice staff for 2k which sold for 30k the same day, and so on. Greens and mini-pets are particularly great for this since a lot of them have really wide ranges, so you can usually just buy from the impatient players for the low end and spend a bit more time to sell for the high end and make a nice profit. And the great thing is that the time spent is minimal, especially when compared to farming, since you can usually just put up auctions and let them sell themselves, or just keep an eye out for an opportune "wtb".

Though of course, the stocking up, investing if you will, for the future is something I also do as well. I recently sold an old stash of 300 Candy Canes for a nice sum. Also did the same with a stash of Black Dye when the price spiked. And of course I still have around 150+ Rubies and Saphires that are just waiting for the right moment to be offered.

I farmed SF yesterday with henchies and got 4 green items and two gold. Not bad since the hechies knock your chances down. I could probably go 10 more times and not get a green item at all. My lucky day.

That's definitley lucky dude. I farmed SF 100 times +, and probabily only got that out of ALL my runs.
Show's my luck eh?

Just think where you'd be if you put even half that much time into finding a job.

I pretty much just farm as well now. I still enjoy the game but I've filled my character slots for now and I have little time for extended pvp. Working 2 jobs + going to school = over 100 hours per week taken up with things I'd rather not do. FoW forest runs still give me a charge.

I do have a job I'm a Sysadmin and work whenever I want as well as do web-design, building work, etc whenever I want. I make enough cash to have weeks on end off work so it's all good :)

Usually I will spend an hour or two hitting my usual farm locations each week. I'm still hunting for 1 or 2 more Superior Vigors and a Superior Healing Prayers, but other than that I'm fairly good as far as cash is concerned. To me, the best way to earn money is to make sure you don't spend it frivolously.

Agreed. I think people get caught up in the gold sinks like 15k armor and such.

I am new to the game and was not aware that henchies affect how many drops you get...How badly do they affect this? Is that why there are so many more drops when i play with a player group?

What else affects the drops?

Thanks guys, i appreciate your help with these noob questions!

katya
31-07-2006, 20:08
Yes, henchies affect the drops. They count as players, just like in any player group but you do not see what drops for them. Which is why it seems like so much more with a player group.

The only other thing affecting the drops is redoing the same zone repetitively. You break that cycle by doing other zones, quests, missions, etc. before hitting it again.

The more hench you have the less drops you get, but not only less drops but less quility drops too, I've had times where we've taken 1 henchy out in to sorrows furnance and not one green drop to be seen the entire time, lucky for us we was out to complete a quest.

From a farming prespective, the more human players you have in your group the less drops for you, hench the ever so popular solo monk, that can kill monsters by itself, and you gain all drops be they useless rubbish, or nice drops, either way you get to sell it yourself, so any +1g is a good g.

The amount of times you farm one spot, drops will decrease if your solo or not, this is what is known as the farming code to prevent farmers from farming, now it's not supposed to prevent human farmers, just the botts who sell there gold on ebay for real world money.

And of course the ANet effect, the ANet effect works like this, if a farming spot is getting over farmed nerf, if a farming spot is dropping to high quilty drops nerf, and the rare but also popular if something dropping something anywhere that's a NERF, because ANet would like nothing more than for you too have 0g, and even if you did have 0g that's nerf that too, basically if you find yourself a nice sweet farming spot, chances are others have found it too, but don't dare tell ANet about it, because they'll NERF it.

NERF by the way means to reduce, it's bad thing.
