View Full Version : [Elonian Lore] Deciphering the image.

There is a reason why Anet would take a screenshot of this. First of all, it shows some of the graphical advances in Guild Wars they have made since Prophecies.
But, they can do this in a much better way.
What I think is, that this screenshot was dedicated to the Lore fans.
First of all, if you look at the right side of the screenshot we can see a spear-wielding statue. A paragon maybe?
We know the paragon to be seen as a guardian angel of the people of Elona. But is he guarding something now?
Another thing that jumps in your face is the head statue right in the middle of the screenshot. Representation of a godess? A queen? Or another paragon hero?

Looks like something from "Alien" to me, haha.
^
I was sooo thinking about saying that in the GWO Irc channel. xD
I was thinking "Well, here is something for the Lore guys to connect to the mursaat" but thought it wouldent be serious enough in a serious research facility such as this.

Hey, I can't be serious 100% of the time, Avoc. I'm sure it is serious, and I hope we can get some discussion going on it, but I had to say that before someone else did =P Nothing personal.

Just did the 15 attribute quest from Droks (talk to Vanyi - find Saryi, I think those were the names). Anyhow, the head mentioned from that link - it reminded me of Mragga. Upon killing Mragga it remains frozen, head tilted back as if in a wail of some sort: it's the same head. "Alien" like in nature, but the face itself is more...gaunt. Struck me as peculiar.
It could just be an elaborate or stylised form of headdress.
Looks like the Elonian architecture looks heavily influenced by ancient Egyptian or Aztec/Mayan styles. I like it!

That's exactly what it is, Zaxares. The ancient Egyptians and other ancient Middle Eastern cultures had headpieces very similar to that.
Actually that face reminds me a bit of the one that can be found on some of the statues in Heroes Ascent or in the Tomb of Primeval Kings.
I'm speaking here of those tall statues that have iridescent wing on the back
Here's a screenshot http://guildwars.gameamp.com/modules/gallery/uploads/14266.jpg
And by the way am I the only one to find it strange these creatures have flame like wings and long faces and the screenshots we've seen of Nightfall have shown us some long face statues and some monsters with flame like wings?

The mragga is the same skin as a banshee or the Wailing Lord.
Same as the ritualist spirits too if I'm not mistaken. Never looked that close at them.
