I was thinking Ranger, or paragon.

I'm thinking /mo or /r /mo because of live vicariously and vigourous spirit. Since they are enchants, they're due to help out the dervish even more. /R also for apply poison but both techniques require you to hit multiple targets which is probably unlikely.

Ive been using Tainted Flesh as a D/N and using it as fuel for Pious Assault, and Signet of Piety.

I was thinking Assassin, becuase there are a few assassin enchants that are cheap, have short durations and recharge times, or end when hit. Perfect to exploiting Mysticism.

I've been finding D/Mo is a great combo. Due to Rebirth and other enchantments to help.

Elementalist along the lines of Earth Magic, AoE spells and Wards would be pretty cool as it could provide a nice set of armour/evasion.

I'm Mesmer for the Physical + Elemental Resistance I hope to get somewhere/someday.
I actually think Assassin could work, because of their cheap enchantments with fast recharge.
every secondary will have big pluses.. some have been said before but also
mo - for rof spamming and healing in general
ele - not only wards, but many "adjacent" and "nearby" skills
necro - touch skills
mesmer - mantras
ritualist - weapon spells
etc..
personally i think i'll try rt, mo and ele..

I mostly used /Mo and used RoF and Guardian for both protection/healing and to fuel mystic sweep and Pious Assult.

Avatar of Lyssa, Arcane Conundrum, Mantra of Persistence, Arcane Echo, Leech Signet, [2 optional sythe or self heals], Res.

any other atts in sythe or for self heals.
Massive damage when in lyssa-mode on anyone who's casting; great vs Ritlords/Minion-masters.

And where is that "Massive damage" ? Wand dmg + bonus ???
Well the Dervish was fun. I will go with D/Mo until I get a better feel for what the elites will be like. I think having so many enchants is a weakness for one profession intially but I havent seen all of the skills. After D/Mo I was thinking D/El or D/Necro would balance out an enchant heavy line and still provide some variety in the build. The nice thing is you can test some of this out on the Hero Dervish before you switch over your own character. Since I have all the core skills unlocked I look forward to actually testing the secondary on the hero more so than on my own character.

Dervish Scythe its 3 enemies at once..so Apply poison works wonderfully!
I finished the PRE with my dervish and used mainly 4 skills + rez.

Thats nice, except only core proffs are available.

not quite true. you can already choose a secondary rt/a for your heroes (my koss is usually on w/rt build) and i bet you can for your chara too when you'll unlock it in cantha by paying 500gp in senji's corner. after release of course.
i see no reason why it'd be different, especially since tyrian born charas can unlock it in cantha for themselves.

In regards to fighting minion masters I think you'll find the Avatar Of Balthazar is far superior especially some of his set skills too that you dont need the godform to use.
The game is being rigged with lots of disenchants so i look forward to the challenge of nightfall!!!
Im not sure what secondary to take, I was going to play pretty pure dervish to learn the skills more. A hard res is always nice, but so is something like shatter hex so I guess testing will tell!

I find the side effect of many of the Dervish enchantments ending very interesting.
For instance, while fighting thru the "Pre-Searing" I used 'Heart of Holy Flame' quite a bit. I was amused when a skale blighter ran up next to me and proceeded to use 'Chillblains' to remove my enchantment and get hit by the effect of being set on fire.

whats really fun..is ele secondary..
put fire up to 8, equip burning speed, hit mystic regeneration + boon, no burning to you..but set everyone on fire for 7 sec..ever few sec..fun..
The best secondary is Assassin because of one Elite -- Shadow Form. Mysticism cancels it's drawback if you also have Watchful Intervention on you. Talk about invulnerability.
I'm half tempted to go Assassin too on this one. I've found it to be a most excellent secondary.

After toying around with it over the weekend event, I found Elementalists to also be a decent secondary for them.
I know it sounds a little silly, but I really found Aura of Restoration a nice little touch to my character. I coupled it with some skills and scythe attacks that require enchantements, but not necessarily remove them and that seemed to work out well.
I am definitely looking forward to the Expansion coming out. I'm already 100x more excited than I was when Factions came out.

wow thats a really good idea. hopefully it wont get abused then nerfed to heck
i was thinking necro due to the fact that they got a new skill called poison heart. wich gives you a small degen then poisions nearby foes it is an enchantment so it works with mystism. i was also thinking spitefulspirit and order skills and the new well skills

D/P
Oooh the ammount of support chants/songs/shouts etc etc etc It'll be bliss. =P
Even better, the best P Skills arent even in the main att. I'm really going for that. =)

If scythe attacks provide up to 3 adrenaline hits than paragon or warrior seems extra nice. (missed preview so don't know either way on this)
Mesmer with channeling seems good for extra energy management if you have prophecies, plus gives extra energy management and defensive skills.
Monk (of course) for it's own protection, healing, and smiting attacks. Up Close smiting skills might be nice, and would seem to go well with the "point plank area damage" that dervishes have a lot of.

Well, Dervish is a devout of the gods, so why not make him more devout and make him a monk, to be devoted even in spirituality:P rofl. Personally i think Monk will do good since of the vig skills etc that give the ability of healing self.

Ill go for ritualist secondary for sure, the weapon spells will greatly enhance the fighting power. (brutal weapon/ 'blinding' weapon/ guided weapon etc.) Also restoration will keep u alive (better then monk in my opinion).
Also Im very anxious to know what a spirit scythe looks like.
I'll try D/N.
Incidentally I think primary necros will like Defile + Desecrate Enchantments a whole lot in Nightfall :o
d/n for me
dimonic flesh a few syth attacks fingers and avitar of grenth

I used ele as a secondary with glyph of lesser energy I can cast 2 spells for 5 energy wich comes in handy when spamming different enchants

I picked Warrior as a secondary. I cant wait to change it. heh. Not that a warrior is a bad secondary, but for the playstyle I didnt know I was going to develop, it is horrible.

I started off with a /mo but im looking forward to trying out a /a as well. I see alot of synergy between the dervish and assassin line.

I started my dervish survivor project with D/E because of glyph of lesser energy. Original plan was just use Glyph to e-management for dervish skills, but I found out that it can also turn my Dervish to quite effective elemetalist as well in a places where's too big risk to die in front line.
I went D/A I know I'm probably dumb specialising in daggers instead of the norm scyth... but the ability to regen energy almost twice as fast as a sin primary, it's pretty nice.
I like Dervish necro for plague touch...only skill i use but gets rid of conditions...gives to enemies...helps out with all the burning in nightfall. Dont need to have anything in necro attributes either.

i have to say monk secondary for dervish is the best.

I've been reading through all of these posts, and althought Assassin has the Shadow Form, a powerfull addition to a Dervish, and the Elementalists Glyphs and Mesmures Mantras.
Becasue of the sheer number and speed of attacks, I think Ranger would be best, if only for Apply Poison.
I'm going to give /R a try first, if that doesn't work out then I'll fall back on one of the Magic classes probably Me or N. Most of my other characters are Mo's and I want to be different.

Same here - I have assassin as a secondary for my dervish, and it's been proving quite useful so far.

Threads like these really amuse me :) Best secondary? It really depends on what you do.
D/P can work great as a part of (GvG) team build.
D/Mo works great in PvE and places where you cant rely on monk.
D/W with wild blow is awesome.
D/A with shadow form can be cool.
etc.
No, there is no best secondary.
Best secondary?
None! Straight full Dervish skillbar is best!
Just kidding.... sorta'. I chose Necro second for my Derv because I thought it would fit the whole 'grim reaper' persona. And, with having a Necro for over a year from Prophecies, I've got plenty of /N skills to chose from. So far, I like using all Derv skills. They seem to be well rounded out. But, my Derv is young, I'll have to experiment.
Why do people still ask this "What's best" question? It should be, "What's best for fill in the blank?" As already stated, there is no one "best" thing. Depends on how you like to play, what you want to do.

I personally use D/E for Glyph of Lesser Energy. 2 free Enchants of your choice every 30 seconds (and no attribute investment). I've used some of the Conjure line for extra damage, but then I have to invest attribute points and the small increase in damage doesn't seem worth it.
