Anyone else noticed that most of them are MELEE attacks? Meaning they can be used by any weapon and not just Scythe?

I find this kinda weird, not that i'm against it. In a sense, it makes them usable with other weapons and this doesn't take anything out of the skill, only makes them more accessible to /D. But then again, you need to invest in Scythe Mastery to make them stronger, and why would you want to do that if you're using another weapon.

So i'm considering mostly what skills could be useful for people using ANOTHER weapon, so say having 0-8 in Scythe Mastery (because it's pretty easy to go like 12-11-6, or 12-10-8, etc. Warriors having 12 Weapon-12 Strength can honestly do just as good with 12 Weapon-10 Str-8 Scythe Mastery seeing how weak Strength passive ability is overall. 10% AP vs 13% AP is like 1-2 damage difference, i.e. who cares)

So let's see all the 'melee' attacks in there. I'll give a rating which is HOW THEY'RE WORTH POTENTIALLY WITH OTHER WEAPONS! It has nothing to do with the skill rating if you're using Scythe. Most are bad, but a few could be interesting:

1) Banishing Strike. Imo, worthless without good investment in Scythe Mastery. At 8 it's still 50 Nearby AOE damage when hitting a summoned creature, which can be useful against MM in AB or the like.

1/5

2) Eremite's Attack : 5E/4s recharge, +5..9 damage per adjacent foe. With 8 in Scythe Mastery, you could have +40 damage attack with 5 adjacent foes, or +32 with 4. Not awesome, but could work in PvE maybe. But then again, if you have that many adjacent foes, a Scythe seems like the weapon of choice and why aren't you using one!

2/5

3) Irresistible Sweep: 5E/8s. Lose an enchant and deal +5..17 damage, if you lose an enchant can't be blocked/evaded. Imo not worth it since the +damage won't matter much and /D might not gain much benefit at all from losing an enchantment. Maybe something like D/W with hammer could make it worth it.

2/5

4) Mystic Sweep: 5E/4s. You deal +5..9 damage for each enchant on you (max 40). This one IS interesting. Think of the warriors with a smite monk on their back, and maybe an extra enchant like Vigorous Spirit or the like. It's pretty easy to get up to 5 enchants (AoE, Guardian, Balt's Aura, Judge's Insight, Vigorous). Now you have a 5E/4s recharge +40 damage attack (or +32 with 4 enchant). On hammers or the like, this can be truly devastating.

4/5

5) Penitent Strike. 5E/4s recharge. +1..25 damage, if target has less health than you you lose an enchant, if you lose an enchant you gain some health. Overall, not worth it since this skill is mostly useful for its +damage and you won't get all that much without high Scythe Mastery.

1/5

6) Pious Assault. 5E/12s recharge. +10..26 damage, lose an enchant, if you lose an enchant recharges instantly. Again, this one is nice for its +damage, and without high SM it's not really good

1/5

7) Reap Impurities. 5E/6s recharge. +10..26 damage, gain some health if foes suffering from condition. Kinda bad without high SM too

1/5

8) Rending Sweep. 5E/8s recharge. +5..17 damage. If you hit a foe suffering from a hex, that foe loses 1 enchantment. Now that's the jackpot imo. A 8s recharge enchant removal for 5E? Ya, your target needs to be hexed. But think of something like an A/D using daggers. Throw Siphon Speed on a monk, Rending Sweep and he loses an enchant and you can repeat at will. Or just a W/D if your team is using a lot of hexes. Getting rid of a Prot Spirit straight yourself is priceless.

5/5

9) Twin Moon Sweep. 10E/12s recharge. You lose an enchant. If you lost an enchant this way, you strike twice. Now this can allow to do some MASSIVE damage. A Hammer hitting twice can easily be 160-170 damage on a running target (higher crit rate) as well as generate 2 strikes of adrenal. You'd likely need someone else to enchant you, otherwise it will be too energy heavy. It requires 0 investment in Scythe Mastery, so it's in fact a non-attribute skill. You need to have a way to manage your energy, but it's in fact an energy based Sun and Moon Slash (without the block/evade part) that requires an enchant to use, but it can be used with ANY weapon. And if you want self enchants and can somehow manage energy (it can truly be possible now with Paragon or the like acting as energy battery for attackers) you could use enchants like Aura of Thorn or Vital Boon. This thing has huge potential on Hammer spikers.

5/5

So overall, i think that Mystic Sweep, Twin Moon Sweep and Rending Sweep have some really interesting potential when used with other weapons than Scythe with a modest investment in SM
