Is factions required?

Do I have to have the Factions chapter installed on my computer to play in the alliance battles? What if the only chapter I have is Nightfall or Prophecies, and I am in a guild that is Luxon alliance? Can I join my guild mates in some alliance battles?

No, you can't.

Alliance battles are Factions only, so if you don't have Factions you can't do them, regardless of your guild's alignment.
