A good weapon for dervish?

Iam trying to pick out a good weapon for my dervish buddy, hes totally new to guildwars. he only has nightfall. Iam looking for a weapon thats max stat that will last him awhile. Hoping for something that costs under 10k

If your friend can find the Nightfall presale packet, it gives you access to a nice scythe. It has max damage, an icy damage mod, a damage bonus while enchanted, and a mod to extend the duration of enchantments. The dervish (at least from my initial experience) is a very enchantment-heavy profession, so the last two mods seem to work out nicely.

If you are trying to find a good green weapon, though, I would suggest something with a zealous mod (-1 energy regen, +1 energy each time you hit an enemy). Since a scythe is capable of hitting multiple foes at once, this would be a nice way to quickly regain energy during a battle (especially if you start using some of the more costly avatar forms in battle!)

Suli's Scythe is a good example of a Green Scythe with a Zealous mod. No troubles with Energy when I have that weapon.

As someone mentioned before any mods with "X while enchanted" are a definite plus for this class as is Zealous with the fact you can hit multiple enemies at once.

The "Enchantments last X% longer" I personally haven't found that useful due to some echantments (such as Heart of Holy Flame) giving a bonus effect when they end so you might not want them to last for the full duration. Scythe Attacks that remove them (Pious Assault & Twin Moon Sweep) and other various skills that remove enchantments when used (i.e. Signet of Pious Light) also seem to me not to mesh with the longer enchantment mod. Again that's my opinion, and it would depend on the build you use whether or not you're removing enchantments all the time.
