What happens if your target dies in between when you start infuse health and it finishes?
It happened to me like... 15 minutes ago, but I have no idea whether I lost half my hps or not (I was just stunned staring at the infuse 3/4s completed casting).
I figured that I lost my energy because I was down to about half and hadn't done a whole lot of casting, but I have no idea if I lost half my hps.

Imo, you won't lose your health, but only energy. Energy is always paid upfront when casting spells. You only lose health when the spell is actually completed (such as sac spells).
I was using an Infuser just last week and same thing happened to me many times. Was casting infuse health when my target died...unless I'm misunderstanding ur post

Sac spells have the sacrifice up front as well, just like the energy. Health loss falls under a different damage category, and I am unsure if the loss happens even if it fails. There is a good chance that it does though, as exhaustion, sacrifice, energy, et al are charged before the spell is completed.
Test it. Grab a hero and a friend then go into a scrimmage. Get your friend to cast shame on you and then cast infuse health on the hero. Shame will cause the spell to fail (and cost you energy), enabeling you to check for health loss on an interupted infuse. I know the answer, it just might be better if people learned how to test basic basic game mechanics themselves.

Health Sacs do not happen up front. At least not Necro Health Sac spells ie Order of the Vampire. You will lose the energy, but not the health if the spell does not finish.

Infuse Health will not sacrifice the health unless you finish the cast.
However, there is/was a semi-known glitch which could cause the health sacrifice to occur even if the target died. This bug was either fixed, or happens so rarely and randomly that the problem cannot be isolated and thus fixed. I recall having the same problem occur to be a few times.

I believe it's been fixed, in that you only sac if the cast finishes.
Forbiddian, next time I see a post like this one you will take a break from the forums.

Mate, sacs aren't up front.
I tested it with barbed signet, it sacs at the end.

A couple people already mentioned it. What threw me was Demonic Flesh, where the sac comes before the life boost from the enchant. Didn't remeber at what point before the enchant took effect that the sac occured.

I believe that Demonic Flesh is the exception to the rule, rather than the rule.

It might also be that sac happens right before the effect happens. It used to not be this way, and getting off a last Dark Pact when you are dead anyway to take out your attacker happened. But they switched it so that no longer happens; otherwise the regen during negative health would allow Blood Renewal to keep you alive instead of instantly killing you.
So likely the order would be energy cost, casting time of the spell, sac, spell. This could be somewhat important if certain spell preventions kick in. An interrupt would cost the energy, but no sac or spell since it is prevented from happening. However if a spell goes through the cast sequence, there is a possibility that sac will still happen if the spell fails. Testing it with Guilt could help for necro spells, Shame for ally spells, or with any future classes that might have such things. Not very useful at the moment even if the sac does happen on failure, but could end up being useful knowledge later on in future updates.
