has anyone had this situation before

I got separated from my group and came across another loan mesmer. immediately we started trying to shutdown the other person with interupts and illusion magic. soon we were in a stalemate with both of us interupting each other's spells. this carried on for about 5 minutes before we were discovered by both sides and both ended up dead.

not mesmer vs. mesmer, but I play bloodspike in AB, and yesterday I met another bloodspike, and our battle dured like 6 minutes, and FINALLY I was winning..and guess what? A luxon mob charges in, and I'm dead within 30 secs...

Was that you? lol The same thing happened to me yesterday, and the mob had to ruin it :grin: It could have been somebody else, but I admit I clicked the wrong skill and it started going downhill from there :sad:

Whats the point in shutting down a lone mesmer when you cant kill him, and he isn't hurting your team at all? Its like sending a monk into the archers in GvG on his own, he has no chance of killing them, but at least they cant kill him!!1

it was fun testing each other. a bit pointless I admit but it was good practice for both of us :P

This has happened to me twice, lmao! But lucky enough, we managed to finish our fights.

First it was myself running a mix of Illusion, Dom and Fastcast. This Mesmer was an IW /A Mesmer, and I managed to take him down with ease.

Second time I encountered a Mesmer with 4/8 of his skills as interrupts. Our battle lasted for quite a while, and it was intense. Both of us got to a slither of health quite often, before my opponent ended up overpowering me and winning. We both complimented each other on a fun fight. xD;

As for what's the point of it: There isn't one, but it's FUN. Especially Mesmer vs. Mesmer.

its something that can't be done by any other profession as its the only 1 that doesn't do direct damage (except the monk of course) so as long as others don't interfere you can have awsome fights which train in quick reactions and hand to hand coordination

As a mesmer in AB - I've never fought 1 vs 1 with nobody around. BUT I did join forces when I got seperated with a lone Domination mesmer and I was running hardcore Illusion setup. We managed to take out a few grps of wars and elementalist with ease. VERY FUN


AND BAM TO POST #1000 - :cool: :angry: :grin:

hmmm makes me want to bring my mesmer in ab. unfortunetly I'm to HA/Gvg orianted so my builds focus on DIE MONK DIE!!! I usually end of 1v1 with my ranger or necro which usually turns out well, but when I lose man do I lose.

I run into something like this in AB with my Rt/Me against Me/x. He carries Backfire at 9 Dom to use against elementalists, Hex Breaker against sins, but sometimes finds lone mesmers to use it against too. I find it astonishing how many Illusion mesmers don't carry anti-hex skills, and many of them will cast themselves to death with Backfire on when in the heat of battle. When they do I don't need to use the evil Rit nukes on them.

these things happen sometimes with necro vs necro and mesmer vs mesmer because they are both presure build or shutdown build :P but presure vs presure or shutdown vs shutdown dont work :D

Have you ever seen 2 necros casting (at the SAME TIME, no less!) LIfe Siphon and Life Transfer on each others? Laughed long enough to die after this.

no its usually me (the mesmer) casting backfire and hexbreaker and the necro casting the blood lifestealing skills and curses which I just degate but don't have enough time to go onto the offensive so it turns into a lockdown

Happened to me in fort aspenwood we both covered each other with backfire and had a 10 second waiting period while we both couldn't do anything :laugh:

I won in the end because she kept hitting me with her staff attacks and triggering ineptitude and clumsiness, along with a bit of degen.

Gained nothing from it apart from like 4 faction and that nice feeling of self esteem :grin:

Yes this happened with my assassin before, I have been using this build from wiki which suprisingly works. Anyway my team had died so I started try to take out lone chars and suddenly an assassin shadow-steps to me and starts fireing away his build. I soon realized that he had the same build I had so it was fun to intterupt him at a cruical part of the build :smiley:.

Btw has anyone seen two touchers go at it? I think that would be pretty funny :grin:.

well yes, but generally they are smart(orly?) enough to notice the other one is a touchie and stay away, after they have thoroughly touched each other.

Well, the other day, I was on my Necro using E-denial build and i came across a necro with the same build, well the battle lasted like 2 minutes before a whole kurz mob came and killed me o_o.
