View Full Version : Stuck on vanquishing Joko's Domain
Ok, I decided to work on Sunspear/Lightbringer/Vanquisher titles in Elona last week. Started on Istan island... worked my way north methodically. Vanquished everything South and East of Gate of Desolation... cleared out Sulfurous Wastes. Had a few tough spots on the way, but managed.
Now I've been trying to clear Joko's Domain and keep getting my butt handed to me on a silver platter. The parts of the zone where you can ride the wurms are still fairly easy. It's the rocky areas where I'm getting beat. Particularly with Arneh the Vigorous' group. Nothing I've tried seems to work.
I've used MM heros, dual Searing Flames heroes, Broadhead Arrow interrupts, 3 heal monks, 4 melee heroes/henchies. Eating cupcakes and golden eggs b4 the fight... haven't been able to take them down with any combination of those strategies.
There have been 3 or 4 domination mesmers in the undead. Half of my skills are being interrupted by Cry of Frustration every time. If I kill the mesmers, the monks and paragons resurrect them b4 I can drop another one.
Anyone got any tips for this one?

I had a similar experience in Alkali Pan the other night, with Shelkeh the Hungry's group. The group was massive & between 2 areas of Rock, so no chance of using Wurms. I did try pulling them onto the sand on the other side of one rocky area, but to no avail. That group also had about 2 Acolytes & 3 Cavaliers, it was a big group.
I flagged my h/h back &, using a Flatbow, pulled some towards them (the H/H), but they were racking up dp rapidly. However, occasionally one of their number went down as I flagged what was left of my team further back, & as the mob went back to it's position one of the Acolytes would stay behind to rez their fallen comrade. I was on my Ranger with Broadhead, Savage & Distracting & halted each attempt & slowly whittled him down. I was doing that for just over an hour & once there were no more 'Rezzer's' left the others were taken down a few at a time.
I had to constantly fall back, then once I'd lost aggro I had Margrid go Rez my fallen (I have 'Rebirth' on her, for manual use). The just continued til they were all dead & the Gold Helmet came up. Running & regrouping was my major strategy, constantly flagging the h/h further back as I ran, til we lost aggro.
Not sure if that's any use to you.
I managed to get half the group close to the wurm spoor and kill them all once. But racked up so much DP doing that, that once I got to the next group with those ranger giants and Quicksand, my monks couldn't get more than 1 spell off b4 dying.
flag your henchies near the wurm spore, not too close, die, run back from rez shrine and hop in the wurm and proceed to slaughter the group since they should still be chilling on the sand. The REAL challenge to this vanquish is remembering to use the smash to access the 5 or 6 enemies in the 'secret' area of the level :P

Im not sure but If theyre the undead kind.
Holy Damage.
My dervish and smite tahlkora is quite good at those.

Protective Spirit absolutely gets better with DP involved. It's a good thing to bring even if you lock it most of the time to prevent your monks from burning all their energy out.

Ummm... isn't that in Sulfurous Wastes not Joko's Domain...

command/tactic B/P's roll most of that with very little trouble.
i also have signet smiter build for on of my monk heroes (16 smite, 12 inspiration), but i havent gotten desperate enough to use it...
EDIT:
minion bomber hero of course always a great help, and so is a sandstorm/warder for crowwd control (this better be a human)
really it is all about builds and careful pulling
I think with the rezing... you could put down frozen soil.
If you can kill them without them killing you.... it'll be a win.
I think having a necro, maybe the MM have blood ritual to juice the healers in the group, it'll be fine.
I had hard issues with those groups in normal mode because of the rezing and the dervishes with vow of silence....

Take a Ranger with Expert's Dexterity and Distracting Shot. Interrupt all the rezzes' and lock them out for 20 seconds. Frozen Soil also works but most of the time henchies tend to die <_<
Then grab a Dervish with Heart of Holy flame and 16 Scythe. Or a Moebius -> DB sin with Heart of Holy Flame. Undead for breakfast next time.
Then maybe take a Warder in your last slot. Ward Against Harm + Ward Against Elements gives +50 armor against elemental damage, and Ward Against Melee neutralizes the Dune Carvers. Give the warder Mantra of Resolve to ensure the wards connect. Since henchies/heroes tend to clump, this is extremely effective.
