are Anet so desperate they have to resort to this again?
Oh goody, another weekend where stupid losers can get their gimmick earnt emotes, for only half the work, looks like I'll have to wait till next week to get into HA.

Has Anet gone out of their freaking mind??
3 fame weekends in the past 2 months... noobs will have tigers by Halloween.
By organising fame weekends, you are not fixing "the lack of players in HA". newcomers stay for the weekend, maybe a week on top to get their easy and then move on with PvE and we are back to eumhhh nothing?

Seems like anet cant win in the eyes of you people.
You want rank but dont want to farm it, want emotes but moan about people with emotes, moan about gimmick builds that people are using to get fame....the same fame that u cant be bothered to spend the time getting...moan that ha is dead but dismiss offhand any attempt to get new players... wow... maybe youd just like to do away with any sort of effort and just have the title appear on your account by magic.

Meh, I don't mind the new weekend, I mean like I only have 58 Fame, and well that isn't enough to get into any half decent groups. So as far as I see it I can get a bit closer to my rank 3, and then I can start playing in proper groups and actually start to learn stuff. Let's face it, no one learns anything in unranked PuGs, apart from the fact that they suck hard.

not true. I recently did an unranked PUG using a balanced pressure build and got through the zaishen in 20 seconds then beat a heroway group in UW. unfortunately we cam up against a moddified version of the old eoe bomb build. what a shock that was.

Nobody has ever said that. If you knew how to read, youwould know that the other threads and suggestions suggest "fixing HA," not adding another "spiritway gets you double the fame for half the work" weekend.

just for the record I would like to say that I don't do HA for the fame or the emote. I do it because I'm bored with fighting AI that haven't the brains to move out of a meteo shower or to see passed the aggro bar. also I join high-ranked groups not for a free ride but to prove to them that not all unranked players are idiots.

have you ever played with unranked ppl? It's the worst thing you could possibly imagine. i'm not saying unranked ppl are dumb. i know there are unranked ppl with brains that can play aswell as a r6. But most of them are PvE-players that want a bambi and they just can't handle the PvP pressure, because its way above the PvE pressure.
Anet ****ed up HA with their double fame weekends. You learn absolutly nothing with Spiritway/heroway to r6 in double fame weekends...
you end up being rank 6 and you know that you have to press a button with a hammer and a button with a maul

i would argue that this HA weekend was very successful and i commend ANet for "staying the course" despite the criticism from some.
i played with a large variety of people. Some highly ranked and some without rank. i witnessed little negativity but a lot of people having fun. even when we were matched up with RAWR and held on for over 7 minutes there was no sarcasm or denigrating remarks. - and i got my r5

If unranked people were accepted in HA i would be there, but we're not soooo....
lol HA is back to nops and skips. Last night in 1 hour of play met one team 3 times and another twice. A total of 6 individual teams were playing. 1 Fertile bomb, 1 Ranger Spike, 1 DA-way, 1 Sin KD-way or whatever, 2 Spirit-way. This was at 8:30 PM EST.
What ANET fails to understand and many others that HA double fame weekends are not really for new players. These are mainly for well connected players to gain quick fame and work towards Tigers and Phoenixes. I agree you may get a boost to get deers and wolves if you have friends but, not much more than that. Unranked people will hardly ever get a group; forget about winning underworld against r10 scrubs.
HA double fame weekends are failures and they are because they simply create more and more disparity than anything else. The funny thing is if I start an R6+, I hardly get any people to join even if there are R6's LFG. But, the moment I do R8/9+, I get multiple request to join..and again most are R6 or so. And this is the product of double fame weekends. People ranked up and left.
R3 Deers and R6 Wolves now have no place to go as most Tigers don't like them and are well connected. At R8 level, you still can get groups easily but, mostly fail because most of them have no clue with the build they copied and modded without understanding the skill synergies or dynamics.

what I've seen is that the r3-7 players are only interested in getting the next rank or emote so will only let in players of the same rank or higher. the rank 10+ groups however are more laidback and will accept players under the required rank then if they are rubbish then they get kicked. don't ask me to explain why this is but thats my observations.

Since when did Anet proclaim double fame to be for new player? Its for the whole GW community new or old player doesn't have anything to do with it.
These are mainly for well connected players to gain quick fame and work towards Tigers and Phoenixes.
Why do you try to proclaim who double fame is for? Again the double fame weekends are for the whole community connected or not connected (what ever the heck you mean "connected" by that) has nothing to do with it.
HA double fame weekends are failures and they are because they simply create more and more disparity than anything else.
No, double fame is highly successful, because it brings the whole community out to HA for a good time. Everyone working on any rank decides to eliminate a little bit of the grind so they show up. Competition is better cause better players who are semi retired come out to play. GvG'rs who snob HA decide to come get a little fame. PvE guy who wants a Bambi decides to take advantage of double fame so he comes out. next thing you know HA is full with 10 districts. Competition gets stronger and more people are there so you meet more people as well. I don't see how you can call that a failure.

This phenomenon has nothing to do with double fame weekend, it was here long before double fame weekends. Its called looking for a free ride. They perceive that the higher rank group is going to get more fame on a run so they wanna ride the coat tails. Also they figure they might learn something from higher ranked players.

in the short run maybe. but even 1 day after the weekend finished the number of districts went down from 11 to 5 then by the next day they were back down to 2-3 districts again. how is this successful?

6v6 yes.
But I don't see how double fame weekends destroy HA.
Most of the arguments as to why they fail point out that 2 days later everything is the same as before. But if everything is the same then its not detrimental so much as irrelevant to solving the problem.
But I've missed every single double fame weekend since they started.

The two threads you made regarding changes to title rank were wrong and I just pointed that out. Seeing as you have 460 post and I disagreed with you on 3 topics if you count this one. Because your conception that double fame weekend is somehow the bane of HA is equally ridiculous. Somehow counts as always trolling you, then you need to take things less personal and try to make a decent logical case for the stuff you say. Its not a free soapbox around here, and chanting ridiculous mantras like double fame weekend destroyed HA. Means you fail.
double fame weekend does nothing for or against HA. I swear you people argue over nothing. Double fame weekend is neutral, it gets 10X districts for 2 days and then Ha returns to normal. That doesn't hurt HA at all neither does it help it since its too short term. Think of the Double fame weekend as Anet's way of telling the community that HA still exist.

I'd better explain mine and Vela's reason why fame weekends are making HA worse.
1) fame weekends present the wrong image of HA. new players come in thinking its like 8v8 version of AB. this seems to be the case in the fame weekends but then they see afterwards that this is not true and then think HA is crap and leave.
2) with all the new players coming in for "a bit of fun" and playing randomway, the higher ranked players increase their oppinions that all unranked players are "noobs". this is obviously not true.
3) the discovery of the dragon emote has increased most higher ranked players' greed and so now won't let in anyone below their rank in their teams because they want it so badly. this elitism is destroying the GW community.
double fame weekend does nothing for or against HA.
Not exactly true. It hurts it more than anything else. During double fame weekend people gather to farm as much fame as they can to reach their goals or at least bring them closer to their goals. Then they simply leave. More people achieve desired titles faster and move on to other things...more nops. Without these double fame weekends, the crowd would not have thinned so much so fast.
Most new people who end up coming to HA during double fame weekend get farmed by people who already have regular groups or an established HA friend-list.
During the first 6v6 double fame weekend, people farmed 1800+ fame and moved on. Thanks to Para holding builds, another 2k odd fame was farmed and people moved on to other things. Next double fame weekend, people farmed nearly 1000 more fame and reached their goals or just ganked some extra fame and moved on. During this weekend, with no meta change, people farmed whatever they could and again, moved on. It definitely did not help HA. And this is for people who have played HA regularly.
For new people, whose only resort is to play FotMs or randomway, double fame weekends add more frustration than anything else. They see other people in town bragging about getting those 300 fame in 8 hours (lies maybe) when these people hardly got 10. These people are here for bambis. They somehow manage to get it and leave thinking to never play there again.
With these double fame weekends, the disparity among new and old players increased significantly. This created more and more alienation and frustration between these groups.
I spent a total of 12 hours during that weekend and i ended up with 2 fame gained. I've spent a little more than a year tryin to make some kind of friends list to get into HA and i have managed to get a whole 9 fame during that time. I have found it impossible to get any ranked player to give me the time of day. Why do i want to hang around and try to make friends with people that their only comments to me are "go back to pve noob" and "pve noobs thinking they can play" Then the HA players wonder why there are no new people in HA. Well i wonder!
Now i could prolly roll a thumper or some kind of gimmck build and probably pick up some fame here and there, but is that going to help me learn anything? NO its not. I can watch observer mode till my eyes fall out but a person can only learn so much by watchin. Would it be so bad as to actually take the time and teach someone rather than say such hateful and degrading things to people that actually want to learn something?
Oh well, I give up my goal of making anything a reality in the pvp world. So when you wonder why theres no new players in HA you can think of all the "pve noobs" and you'll know why theres not.

I feel your pain. But, ANET promoted trash talking by including very sharp comments on NPCs, heroes, enemies etc. The environment is very unfriendly. I understand they perceived the game world will be divided into guilds protecting their own interests and will outplay others to prove supremacy.
Well, it failed many people there. The forums are also very unfriendly and discouraging for many. For people like you there is not much incentives in GW PvP, mainly in HA. I hope GW2 is not that way.
Granted there are a few, i guess you could say nicer, people in HA that didn't really have all the hatred smack talk but they just don't say anything at all. I find it real humorous that people say the way to get in there is get a good friends list. How on EARTH can you get a friends list with all the hatred? You CANT! And i doubt I'll be gettin GW2. I have close to 8,000 hours of play time on my account so obviously i like the game and from what i read about gw2 it doesn't sound like a game i would like to play. I try to be one of the nicer people in HA by, instead of just kicking "noobs" out of my team at the first wrong step, telling them what they did wrong and how they can improve their build or playstyle. I've tried to ask for other players to do the same but all I've had back so far is people saying "why should I waste my time teaching noobs". WTF? they also way that I'm just a whining unranked noob trying to get free rides. WRONG I'm trying to help higher ranked players as well as unranked players.

First thing I'd like to say is don't ever let your destiny be controlled by someone else.. Find other unranked people and make a group. Just start spamming for peeps. You guys can grind out some fame together. You will find some <r3 guys who know enough to win a few maps and network from there. They will also have fiends so when you win a few maps with them they will remember you.
Secondly, about the rudeness you make a point which is sadly all too true. The area is horrible as a whole, the insults and swearing and raging is the real reason why pvp is dead. No one wants to be treated badly and in HA thats all thats really going on. You can not spend a hour in there without some terrible insult being hurled at you. Many decent players have been ran out of HA sick to their stomaches at the constant vileness and swear never to return. because of that, if HA dies then the community did to themselves. No game mechanic can fix the crap environment in HA. The game is really fun is really a lot of fun. Sad people won't let others enjoy it.

i disagree. while it is true that rudeness is in the arena, it is not the norm.
i started with 50 fame and worked my way up to r5. in the beginning it was difficult - not because of the rudeness but because i lacked the skills and knowledge - as i gained more fame and my rank increased i got into better groups and my friends list grew. in general if a leader is asking for r4+ he will usually consider an r3 or lower. i have seen many nubs spam, "r1 ___ LFG". it's better to just leave your title off and try to sell your skill to the leader.

from my experience it is the r3-5 players who won't let anyone below their rank in. the rank 7+ groups are more lenient and will maybe try out a r3 or r4.

I will take special consideration in explaining what we intend to do before every match so that this new person understands. If I don't know, I would assume that person knew and probably, would go harsh on that person whenever he/she would make a wrong move.
from my experience it is the r3-5 players who won't let anyone below their rank in. the rank 7+ groups are more lenient and will maybe try out a r3 or r4.
In the current state of HA, the higher ranked ones let new people in because there are a very few high ranked people pugging. They don't do this out of generosity always but, in the need to convert time into fame. Also, you don't need an all-star team to get decent fame in HA; what you need is a just a team who won't fubar and some opponents to play against.
These days in HA, I think, bigger dilemma is not getting a group going, but getting opponents...mostly after 9 PM EST.

You are r5 and already have started calling r1 folks "nubs"? Got 525ish fame more and you have gained all the knowledge to distinguish yourself from a "nub"?
