I emerge from six months of desktopless hell to find myself Guildless upon reentering Tyria. Might I be accepted into the ranks once again?

*grumble* At that time, I didn't have any intentions of buying them. If it matters, Re Zon is very near the end of EotN (needing help beating Cyndr...), and I picked up NF for only $17, which was an unpassable deal (<3 eBay).
There's still the free trial for EotN (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Visit_Eye_of_the_North_for_the_Holidays) available, if you haven't given it a go yet.

Yeah, if you decide to pick up NF or EotN, scour eBay or Amazon - waaay cheaper than the Guild Wars Online Store or real stores - you just have to wait a few days to get it (unless you just ask for the access key... :wink: )
I think I'll try the EotN trial tonight, Enkidu should like to return to the Shiverpeaks. If it entices me enough, eBay I shall scour.
Also, rofl: I just checked out your thread about your build. I certainly had forgotten that I was the first to reply to that post. ;)

I have a bad short term memory sometimes... my bad! :laughing:
When I started GW I played on a laptop, but as the expansions bettered the graphics and my laptop just deteriorated over time, i started to be unable to break 10 fps except alone on a map with no trees. Thus I was exiled for the first time from the game...
Then I got Xion. Glorious, watercooled, dual-core, SLI 8800 rig. And I came back, and for a brief time, it was good. I even beat a mission or two in those couple of weeks. But then SpeedFan told me that my cores were getting far too hot in there. And then I realized that the watercoolng system was failing completely and probably not affixed properly to begin with. Months rolled by, barely using it (just to copy key files I needed for school and such). And then my computer stopped POSTing entirely. Most likely heat damage to the motherboard, though the processor could have been fried even though I didn't see the signs of it.
Took it in to a computer shop to have the cooling system removed and install some good old fans. They did, but it still wouldn't post. But it's still under warranty (for about another month), so I just sucked it up and shipped it to California (two. hundred. thirty. dollars.) and just got it back last week, brand new cooler installed. And extra fans.
And so I return :)

That sounds like an ordeal and a half. I'm actually awaiting my laptop's return from the west coast as well. . .
Do the water systems work now?
Yep, very stable and cool, and my room has a very high ambient temperature in the summer so it can only get better.
And the difference between playing GW on a 15.4'' laptop TFT and a 22'' LCD at 1680x1050 is really indescribable.

Brand new game huh? That's how it felt from my old PC (which died fall of last year) and my new (which I got in early December).
Plus everything looks better widescreen. :grin:

Considering I had the slider at 1/4 to all the way left, no AA, bloom off and still got sub 20 framerates on my laptop, to vastly outclassing the game's recommended requirements, yeah, brand new game, for sure.
Cannot wait to get out of the office today... :P

Sorry I couldn't make it on last night. I had to work late and then was troubleshooting some vista woes on two other computers and just got too exhausted to GW- I don't know about you, but once I log in the time seems to start to sleep away and I can spend three hours easy without even realizing it (beyond the 'you have been playing for 3 hours,' of course. ;))

My record is around 10 hours :/
I'm not sure I've exceeded three hours, not since I've come back to GW recently anyway.
I only play in the evenings, and unless I want very little sleep, three hours is the max.
So, Hawkian, think you'll be able to make it on tonight?

After a very fun run through Hell's with Kusanagi and some alliance makes, I was called on to housesit for my sister. I may download the client on her computer tonight though, since I'll be there all week.
