I have no idea if guild wars does this but in world of warcraft if a higher level player is in your party then you get penalized for how much experience you get per creature you kill. Does guild wars have a similar penalty and if so how big of a penalty is it?

GW has a level cap of 20 thus the only time you really get higher level people is when you are under 20, and you can power level them. Exp is split between the number of players you have in your party. Thus if you kill a monster and it would give a total of 100 naturally you would each get 50 exp. Now each player has a multiplier of how much exp they will get that is relative to the level of monster you kill. If you are more than 5 levels above the monster you kill you get no exp. If you are below the level of monster you kill you get more exp. That calculation I don’t have on me…

It is possible to power level others, meaning you take them out, you kill things and they leech the exp. As the level cap is 20 and most exp in the game is given through quests not killing, this is mostly irrelevant. The rush to get to lvl 20 does not matter. Many people will rush to lvl 20 and forget about the skill point quests, thus running around with characters with 30 less skill points than a player should have.

Nope - death leveling happens in Guild Wars quite a bit. Having a level 20 go out with a level 1 gives the level 1 lots of experience points. There is even a title for players that reach 1 million XP without dying.

The only thing that may hinder your progress is that some areas cannot be accessed until a particular mission has been completed.

Hope this helps.

Levelling up to 20 is more of a tutorial thing in GW anyway. The game (and most of the content) starts at level 20. People getting levelled up don't cause a problem.

As opposed to WoW where levelling is the game, and when you finish that, you level your equipment. It would seriously hurt WoW if ou could level up much faster.

Okay, this is something I've not understood.
To power level someone, they have to be in the group, and somehow participate in the fight. If they participate, they have a chance of pulling agro and dying.
So how do these power levelers work with the really low end people trying to leech?

I thought the leecher only had to have their aggro bubble close to the fight and would get the XP?
