View Full Version : Old Times; Old Memories

There was once a time when I remember this guild from a long time ago. This is a very faint memory as small as a grain of sand on a vast beach. The time I speak of was before the expansions when nothing mattered but testing a great game with a great set of individuals. The individuals loved each other, helped one another, and above all else respected each and every person.
Times change, people change, but memories last forever. Those times are engraved in my mind like nothing else I can ever imagine or ever expected. I have played many games since then, and had much more experience outside the guild than many people want to admit. But those memories still shine like the north star among a very dark distant sky.
This guild is unique in that you can never leave it; even if you physically stop playing the game. Your heart will always belong to the guild that treated you with respect and dignity no matter how well you played the game. For that I thank you, I respect you, I honor you; GWO. May this guild forever be favored by the gods you worship and the people you serve. Never forget your morals and never sacrifice your humanity for the sake of conformity.
After saying all that, I want to remember the good ol' days. Liessa Greyhaven you really need to tell me when you log on, I miss my good friend. I call upon my old friend! And should your officers see this message; I hope they would respect my wishes and relay it to you.
Your honor guard, your grave-keeper, and most of all your very old friend.

My father is doing fine, he works 60 hours a week and still only gets paid for 40, but it is a consistant job none the less. Time takes a toll on a person he was always a bit slower at computer games than his sons. Which is why I implore him to stop World of Warcraft and return to a game much more PvE friendly. Not to mention a bit less time consuming. But he will always be as stubborn as ever to do well at something, if you can remember that quality about him you understand what I mean!
Oh, I remember Slaye Tannic even through many years of absence! A good friend he was and probably still is, time doesn't seem to phase the members of this guild as I can see.
And the beautiful Lady Rhonwyn; still running, forever free. I remember a time when my father and I would sit at the dinner table and think of how to convince you to join this glorious guild. You are the type of player we loved for you are the essence of what we wanted this guild to be; knowledgeable, skilled, kind, and above all helpful. Not to mention your memory is very very keen.
And last but certainly not least! Van Tomiko! You know there were times when I said weird comments just to see your equally weird remarks. Kinda like cause and effect. It was you that came up with the name BarkBus and I cannot seem to get rid of it! This is why I love the name BarkBus for I did get quite well at running to Drok's did I not? And Van Tomiko I am glad to see you are still around for that means the comical spirit of the guild still exists and that is something it should never lose.
As short lived as my father and I's reign of the guild was we do wish we could have done more. Somehow ushering in the alliance rules and updating the guild rules doesn't seem like enough! But I am happy you have survived all this time, where I have seen guilds build up and fall, then rebuild and fall, and then rebuild again just to fall again in World of Warcraft. There is no guild like this guild in the existence of any MMORPG! Only Guild Wars can produce quality, long lasting guilds and this one is the best in my book!

So, I was set up! It's been a long time since I've joined, never thought I'd stay that long

I (and I'm sure countless others also) am glad you have Rhonwyn. But I did not answer your question fully! I have been playing World of Warcraft with some real life friends since the day I left. I have had many experiences and loved the game for I am a Blizzard maniac at heart, always have been, and always will be. In that time I have lead guilds with my leadership experiences from Guild Wars, some guilds have grown, some guilds have fallen, and others are still a work in progress. I am currently raiding with a Horde guild named Shattered Oath (no I am not leader, or even officer at that matter, and no I haven't lost my touch these people are just ignorant and stuck up somewhat) on the server called Emerald Dream. We are currently ranked in the top 100 guilds in the world for our 10 man instance/raid/dungeon/mission progression, and top 1000 guilds in our 25 man instance/raid/dungeon/mission progression. I have loved my experiences though, and I have fun everyday.
I still miss this guild more and more though. For there is a cost for being in one of the top guilds on the server, that is the people don't respect each other as much I like. Which is something I always had in GWO. We always respected each other above all things. I have even learned what could have become of GWO should it have been left in my hands at the time of my fathers resign. I probably would have failed you out of ignorance, at the time I lacked the intelligence to be a Guild Leader. I had the heart, but not the knowledge to put it lightly. For I am glad Jack won it, and happy my father saw that. Just one more mistake averted before it was carried out!
All in all Lady Rhonwyn, I have grown much as you can probably tell in some of my posts. Or if other people can probably tell you. I don't know if this forum still has some of my old posts, they are probably purged. It has been many years, for I am 22 now. And I believe I was 16?? When I joined? Possibly a year or two older, oh my, my memory loss is starting at such a young age!! HELP!!11!!!1 Van must be Mesmer mind tricking me again! Well I joined the forums in Apr. 2005, so if we do the math that makes it 4 years ago roughly so I would have been 18! That sounds better...phew.

Wisdom comes with time (except, it does pass some people by *glances at Scott*) And some people will never grow up (ce moi!)
And none of the posts get purged, they are part of the history of this forum and of our guild.
But it's good to hear you have fun, even if its in the wrong game !

Ahh, I remember that once, I was just in GWO, when we did one of the desert missions. It was my first time I'd seen a Minion Master (and that was before the limit on minions!) My mouth was on my keyboard, seeing all those minions :D

Ahhhh, those where the days. When having an army literally meant having an ARMY OF MINIONS! It was fun without the limit, hard to upkeep so I had to have my own personal monk around to keep me alive through it all. But I could never get enough bodies  . Not to mention that once that army got rolling, it was really hard to stop 'em with anything in PvE content. But when they died, five out of my 8 skills were taken up by minion abilities so getting started was an adventure in and all of itself! It also made me cry a bit.
or when you D/C'd in the middle of the run and wiped the whole group
Or sacced yourself to death:P Or ressed everyone with UA and removed them:P

Or having fun and asking for an unsuspecting random guildie victim for help, get a bunch of minions and port to town. Did that to Jack once or twice...muahahahahahaha! I love it! But people started to catch on and stop helping me...so I stopped. Hehehe. I do thank you for your hospitality current Guild Leader Rockweaver, I may someday take you up on that offer! What is your in game name may I ask?
And HEY! It was an art of calculation to keep those suckers up for as long as possible, sometimes...my calculations were incorrect slightly, but it only cost my life and the lives of my friends! All fun none the less.

Well, it's fine to sacrifice your live so the others may live, but you should never take them with you!
Or did I miss a memo somewhere?
You missed a whole box of memos Lady. If you are going to get ressed anyway, and someone is annoying...

Hah! I remember you doing that out in Kessex Peak once, just after we had cleared Galrath & Co. Most of the team died, but your minions didn't get me

Jersey! My wonderful old friend, I still see you on MSN every now and then! Next time I see you I will drop you a line, just for old times sake.
Wow, I'm actually on the original photo shoot from the beta. I lost screenshots of that after a format and thought I'd never see them again. Really brings back memories.
