I have not been able to get past the character screen for 2 weeks now. It started when was in the middle of a dungeon. When we went to the next zone, it would not load (0%) and gave me error 007.

Now, for 2 weeks, every day I try to log in. I can enter my password, and select any character. Once I press enter on a character, it shows the loading screen, and stays at 0%. After waiting several minutes at 0% it results in a error=007.

I have emailed with NCsoft, but there has not been any solution. They have had me do the diagnostic, as well as use PingPlotter. They had me do an MSCONFIG and turn off all other services and programs. I have even deleted and re-installed GW twice, just in case. I have also done a system-restore to an earlier date when GW worked jsut fine. Nothing works. Same result, and won't load after selecting a character.

Heres the kicker: I can play on my laptop, right next to my computer, on the same router/modem, and it works just fine. While I was logged in and playing on the laptop, I have tried to enter the game on the PC. It is connecting somewhere because it booted my laptop game, giving my laptop the err=007, but the PC would not get past 'connecting 0%'. I could re-connect right away on the laptop though. I coud just play on the laptop, but 12 FPS sucks compared to 70 FPS on the PC.

One other thing, when I am on the PC and 'connecting 0%', my guild mate on Vent says that I appear as 'online' in guild roster. After I error-out, he says it still says im online, and I stay there for up to 30 minutes.

If my laptop can connect/load on the exact same network as my PC, to the exact same server my PC is trying to reach, but my PC won't connect/load, then it MUST be something wrong on the PC itself, right?

Any help anyone?

Have you checked your firewall? It may be it thinks GW is a harmful program and has decided to block it for some reason. I've had GW set itself to "Block" in my firewall settings a couple of times and it gave me full-time James Bond code when it did this.

If the firewall doesn't block it and it still doesn't work, try looking for malware/viruses/trojans/etc. because I've heard they can prevent some connections. Especially if there has been one on a GW-related site it may be it's blocking your connection. Not sure of this, though, working on rumours.

I bet it's the firewall.

I have already done the MSCNFIG and booted up my PC with all other programs and services TURNED OFF. That means Mcafee wasnt even running. No luck. Can't load past the character screen.

I have gone into Mcafee firewall and SPECIFIACLLY given GW.exe full permission/access. Same result. Nothing works, or hints an working.

Have you tried connecting your PC directly to your modem? If not try it and see if Guild Wars will connect.

Been There, done that too. No change.

I am on my laptop right now. I am loaded and playing in game on GW server IP 64.25.39.48. When I try to play on the PC, it is trying for the exact same server IP. Again, same network, same target server, but the PC won't actually load into the game.

Does it do this with any other game, or just GW?

And you've probably already tried it, but may reinstalling the network drivers could help.

Only happens with GW. Everything else works perfectly fine. I have bypassed the router and still no change. I have reset the modem many times with no change. I am unsure about the drivers. I thought the modem and router were plug-n-play, but if I discover something I'll try anything.

I assume that you've done a complete malware scan? I recommend Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php).

I have done a Mcafee scan several times. I have Malwarebytes on another computer and like it, so maybe I'll DL that and give it a shot. Everything is worth a try. Thanks for all suggestions.

Updated: I ran malwarebytes. It found a couple of things that Mcafee didnt, but GW still hasn't changed.

Do you have access to any other computers/networks? Does the problem persist no matter where you go and which machine you use to log in?

Yes, other computers work on my home internet.

Maybe I could load up my PC and take it to work and try to connect there.

Oops. I used to be so good at reading comprehension. Sorry for missing that part of your original post.

Still stuck with no progress. I have even taken the GW files from my laptop (that work) and moved them to my PC. That did nothing. Same result. Haven't taken PC to work yet. Maybe tomorrow.

I say delete your dat file, defrag your whole pc, then run GW with the -image command. You may have quite a few bad sectors on your hard-drive. And because of the dat files size when you re-install or copy over "working" files these new files may be placed on your hard-drive exactly where they were before. Especially if there is very limited free space left to use.

Or it may just be that you need a good defrag. Especially if you edit alot of media files, or if you play several games that update themselves like GW does. Windows likes to take bits and peices of info and just toss it anywhere it will fit on your physical drive.

I LOVE YOU DEMONIAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of all this things to work, that was the one. I uninstalled GW, Defragged (twice, lol) and re-installed it. Funny thing is, yesterday, after re-installing I was getting code=058. I realized that I couldnt access any GW site though, so I assumed servers were down. Tried again, just now and I'M IN!!!!
