Right, the "banned" isn't written explicitely in this section of the site. You can tell by his greyed out name though.

His last activity was on 20-02-2008, 14:32, so my guess is that this is the date of his ban.

Don't see any 'banned' thing on my end. But when this post showed up in the random blog thing on the front page, it showed the WHOLE thing, not just the first paragraph.
Well crap, when did Kalden get banned? No point in asking why though.

No idea about the preview thing (what do you mean by that?), but the 1970 might be related to the word "banned" below his name.

How was this able to pose the entire entry on the preview page, and how the HELL was this posted back in 1970?

It's quite amusing to see MY blog in the top of the list. Even after all this time...

I thought you Faceless Gods had deleted already!

Yup, that pretty much summaries this quote.

Because some people would rather say that a profession sucks than say they suck at that profession?

There would always be cookie cutter builds. And as for Diablo 2. I did this schematic essay without knowing that D2 had a equal system. But the only thing stopping folks from getting cookie cutter builds would be the lack of skill points. Because they would have to "climb" many different skill trees and getting lots of "useless" skills to achieve their goal build. Not to mention the lot of skill points used to achieve that.

Hmm, ok. What about folks that hoard the skill points to do the "cookie-cutter" type of builds you'd see in d2 and such? Or would there be a mandatory skill investment per level?
  12. Kailden Jera's Avatar
With skill trees, the simple fact of buying skills and giving 1k per skill would cease to exist. The skills you learn and when you learn them would be determined not with what skill trainer you talk to but rather what skill tree path you chose. This combined with a no level cap (an article I'm also putting my nose in) would make characters growth balanced with the skills you know.
  13. tehdimmy's Avatar
What is the benefit of the skill tree?
  14. Kailden Jera's Avatar
I used an example using skills we have now (as I don't know what skills there will be in GW2).

The current system we have has a flaw... If you unlock the skill in PvP you can learn it early in game.

If you captured Invoke Lightning with a signet and didn't had Chain Lightning you would need to learn Chain Lightning first before you be able to use Invoke Lightning. This means that you saved 20 skill points by spending.
  15. tehdimmy's Avatar
But while this is all good and such, but if the skill you capture is part of an evolution chain you would need to unlock ALL skills that made up the chain.
Does this part nullify the first part or have I missed something?
It seems that it works that way to a degree in Prophecies + Nightfall where certain skills are only available at certain trainers later on. Granted it's not exactly treelike, but it's some kind of structured learning.

    Dos centavos.

It's tradition amoung Alchemists to translate themselfs the actual text and draw their own conclusions. At least that's what my manuscripts say.

I personally like Isaac Newton's version if you ask me. I've read other versions and I know slightly what it means. Those ancient alchemy peeps sure knew how to mask their recipies.

What the hell is a sage's carbuncle? I really don't know... Some kind of gemstone.
  17. Noa Brightington's Avatar
Are you going to translate that yourself? Or have someone else translate?
I know someone who actually knows latin, so...I'll make a copy, see what they say.
