Hello everyone! As some of you may know, im planning to host a Halloween event on October 31st. And, during my last week of planning, I have come up with 3 new contests! Here they are!

The great ghost robbery!

*Halloween, as everyone knows, is a time for ghouls and ghosts. These festering poltergeists rely on a rift combining the spirit world to the world of the mortals. These rifts are present in Droknars Forge, Kamadan, Tomb of the primeval kings, but the strongest one is in Lions Arch. This is due to the presence of a mystical item, which is believed to strengthen the portal by making it larger. This item hold the delicate equilibrium in balance.

*However, this Halloween, all has gone wrong. A NPC character from across Tyria has found the item, stolen it and hidden it somewhere. Without it, Halloween will be ruined! Alas, the King is very busy this Halloween, so he will reward you greatly if you can solve the dilemna!

*This task falls into 2 sections-finding the criminal and finding the mystical item. In the King's attempt to find both, he managed to uncover a series of clues and map pieces scattered across Tyria. He will post these riddles and map pieces as he finds them from the start of the decorations appearing, with the final clues being released on the big day! Players will then have to find the item or find the criminal, and report it to the King via the infamous private Guru scroll network. Good luck!

Hallowed hideout

*Halloween is taking a turn for the worse this year. Everything seems to be in chaos! For you see, I have decided to add a personal touch to this years Halloween decor. So, i gave myself the duty of finding some of the greatest artists and architects to make the Hallowed towns more spooky! But all has not gone to plan.

*The new decorators were due to arrive yesterday, which they did-but without their decorations. They claimed to have been ambushed by a mysterious figure, that seemed to have a large item in a bag. Could this be the same person behing the great ghost robbery? Alas, the King's decorations could be anywhere in the country by now!

*Again, the task falls to you! The decorators claim to have found a place of great spookiness, which breaths the very essence of Halloween. The decorators painted this place, and planned to use it for inspiration for the job, but this painting was lost in the ambush. So it is up to you to make Halloween better! You must find the spookiest place in Guild wars, take a picture of it and send it to the King via the Guru private scroll network! The prizes are big, so dont miss out!

The Mad King/Queen competition!

*Another tragedy! The stylists for the King's new wardrobe have also been ambushed by a someone in a caravan with Halloween decorations. The stylists had created some great Halloween designs, and had come to finalise the costumes with measurements. And now it seems, the third attack has taken place. But now it is your oppurtunity to shine!

*There will be 2 costume contests-the Mad King and the Mad Queen contests. All you need to do is create a great Halloween costume, and bring it on the day for judging! You never know, the King might use the designs himself!

The prizes for the competition are as follows:

*1st place-50k+1gold/green/tome
*2nd place-30k+1gold/green/tome
*3rd place-20k+1gold/green/tome

For the treasure hunt competition that requires you to find the ghost rift item, there will be 7 runners up, who will each recieve one gold.

Please be aware that prizes may change as the event day looms. Lets just hope they get bigger!

I hope to see you all in Lions Arch International district 1 all day Saturday, October 31st, for one of the best Halloween events in Tyria! See you then!:sinister:

But can it happen without humans? The answer-yes!

Here are most of the reasons why it will happen:
*Volcanic eruptions (the ones YOU heroes of tyria started in ring of fire are examples)
*Sorrows furnace
*People burning fires
*Actions that produce smoke

So really, although it will happen slowly, there is no avoiding it!

How is alcohol made? Im sure most of you know, but if you dont, here is how.

Beer, ale, cider and wine

*These 4 are made through fermenting yeast. As yeast ferments without oxygen (anaerobic), it will produce alcohol. However, its amounts are little so beer and such have low alcohol concentrations. Yeast is not used with stronger alcohols (eg firewater) because the yeast eventually kills itself.
*How do they get yeast? Most yeast is found on the outside of plants. It can be found, for example, on grape/apple skins, so these are crushed.
*How long? The longer the better-aged dwarven ale would probably taste better than normal ale!

The level 5 alcohols

*The level 5's-firewater, grog and eggnog. This method is also used for eggnogs and alcohols such as gin and vodka, which have a percentage of higher than 12%, which is enough to kill fermenting yeast.
*First, yeast is fermented. Then, to make it stronger, the yeast is removed along with other impurities, leaving water and alcohol. It is then distilled-heated in large vats to remove water. This makes pure alcohol. A flavouring is then added along with water, or it is distilled more to make purer alcohol. In eggnog, i believe they add alcohol to some whiisked eggs. This is usually brandy.

And thats it for today! Next time-How global warming will happen in Guild wars!

Hello again everyone! Nicholas has again moved to another location, this time demanding another fairly simple task-find 2 margonite masks per gift. So how can you get these 10 masks?

The task

"What a bleak place to meet your end. Bones are scattered everywhere, and the only creatures I recognize are ravens. I find neither of these things to be the best of omens, though a Norn might disagree. I would like to leave with the fleetest of strides that Yakkington and I can muster, and I'm sure you do too. Would you mind hastening my retreat by finding me 2 Margonite Masks? I hope they have clues that'll help Durmand reveal the secret origin of these monsters."

*To get my masks, I worked on my Mesmer with some SS/LB farming with those wurms. There are about 6 mobs-2 3 man mobs, and the rest are 5 man. There are also the bosses which drop more than 1, most of the time. I usually get 1 per run, and I use any money generated from gold drops and item drops to buy the rest.
*Now would be a useful time to work on some HM/NM missions from Dzagonur bastion to Gate of Madness. Dzagonur bastion and Gran court of sebelkeh are the best i can think of, with some large margonite populations in Nundu Bay.

Nundu bay is actually the easiest way to farm them, as there are large amounts outside the gate. Here are some tips for some perect farming
*Dont take the vial skill, as the harbingers will appear. The gates will open without it, allowing you to clear the area. Then, if you wish, take the skill for some more margonites
*Be careful, as they tend to aggro in large amounts.
*If farming, try to take less people as more people=less drops, unless you are taking actual players.

These tips are useful for a full mission completion.

Getting there

He can be found in Poisoned out crops, which should be accessed from Lair of the Forgotten. Some quests stop him from spanning, so remove all Desolation quests. A map of his position is shown by this map:
Part one topic-Ores.

How do armour crafters get iron for swords, and making steel? I honestly dont know. Iron is orignally extraced from its ore, haemotite, by using a blast furnace. Its heated with some carbon to transfer the oxygen from iron to carbon. But how could crafters make as much energy as a blast furnace? It cant be found uncombined in the Earths crust because of its high reactivity.

Next topic-alcohol explained.

I farm them by leaving augury rock into skyward reach and heading towards destiny's gorge. With a sabway hero setup, i can kill all the hydras along the way and get about 2 drops. However, 55 monk builds, perma sin builds and 600 smites, as well as 130hp dervishes, can achieve about 11 drops with this run, from what I have heard.

*Try to bring some interrupts to stop large fireball/meteor damage
*Pain inverter should work here
*If using sabway, flag livia ahead of you so minions take the damage!

To get to nicholas, head south from destiny's gorge. You can find a map on the "Where's Nicholas?" thread in the community discussion forum on around page 40, or check the wiki.
Good luck!

How i did it:

*Enter the battledepths from Central transfer chamber. When you end up in the dwarven base thingy, use the mission map (press U) to try and get to the Heart of the shiverpeaks entrance, You should find about 3 mobs here.
*Alternately, do this from the EOTN entrance, and when you enter, turn left as there will be drakes there.
*Always bring a non spell attack skill, as the drakes use obsidian flesh (and whirling wisps use vow of silence) which disables the use of spells on that drake. Alternately, bring several interrupts
*Bring condition removal as the drakes use burning. Also bring a good party wide healing build.

Hope that helps. Good luck getting your FIVE scales per account! Remember, Nicholas is in Gwens Garden (gwwiki it if youre unsure)

This week, Nicholas is in Arkjok ward, looking for mandragor cakes. Interestingly enough mandragor roots are abundant here, and you can trade them for cakes in the nearby yohlon haven.

So, get a 4 man team setup. Brinign players increases drop rates, and bringing heroes +henchies decreases drop rate, so bear that in mind.

Leave yohlon haven, and turn right. Kill the bug mobs (should be easy even with a 4 man team). Then turn left, and you should see some mandragors. Wait til they move away from the nearest 2 mobs, and kill them. Then hug the right wall and kill the mob that resides here. Then, you guessed it-kill that 3rd mob.

There are more, incase you didnt get a root drop. When you get to a weird bone sticking from the ground, you should be near the mandragor boss. When you aggro him, you aggro a large group, so be careful. Also be careful of Tusked howlers, as they deal a bit of damage, and when merged with mandragors, can cause a party wipe. You should only need to worry about 2 tusked mobs.

At this point, mandragors will be pretty obvious, but on the hill, aggroing a group will cause another to spawn from the ground, so be careful not to wipe. If worried about wiping, activate the res shrine nearby, so you res there and not at yohlon haven.

Dont aggro the large plant mob to get to nicholas-go left!

Roots are about 1.8k ea last time i checked, with cakes at 5kea. If you have any spare, sell them to players-you would be a fool not too.

Hope this helps someone. Remember, there can still be better methods around, but most people use this one.

*It takes me 30 mins of grinding (pulling actually) to get them to the shrine, then several hours to level
*You need to pull at least 2 groups or you lose all the charr to the ascalon soldiers (escpecially because of the monk)
*Ive started it early (lvl 15) hoping that it would cut out the boss grind from 15-16

*And im only coming up to 50% of the way through lvl 15 in the first week.
*And now someone is telling me I have to get 35% exp when lvl 19 because quests dont provide all the exp

The only decent thing is the spare time-which I would rather spend creating GW videos. But i cant whilst im AFK death levelling

Well, im currently at 8980 deaths. At least i dotn have to worry about dying for survivor anymore.

I hope everyone has great fun with the facitlties opening for the weekend. Ill try my best to host something medium sized for July, because of my birthday, Wintersday in July and the Dragon Festival.

*Zaishen Menagerie, where the Zaishen order train your pets and unlock more
*Equipement packs designed to hold weapons and armour
*New Zaishen quests in 3 categories:
->Mission-takes you to old missions
->Bounty-takes you to old boss foes to kill
->PvP-takes you to various PvP arenas where you must win.

As usual, the shing jea boardwalk and other such activities will be around, starting with cupcake drops on Thursday April 23rd, and finishing with the release of new minipets on April 28th. And you never know, the Freebies family might be in International districts of Kamadan, Lions Arch and Shing Jea Monastery on any of these days at 7pm GMT, so stick around!

The storage limit extentions also benefit you more! As you may be aware, this Halloween i am planning and event of "Ghoulish" proportions. Now, with more storage panes and equipment packs, I can announce a larger storage capacity for golds, greens, scrolls, tomes and whatever else i am giving away!
