It's not as scary as I was making it out to be.

So, the other day, I monked for real people for the first time ever. On a Vanquish. And I was surprised. It wasn't that bad. I wasn't that bad. I mean, I could have been better but people were alive more than they were dead.

Then, today, I went and monked in AB. And while there's a certain unpleasantness in knowing everyone's going to target you right away...it wasn't that bad. I think I did okay, all things considering. It's a long way off any more 'leet' pvp but it's all good practice. Especially not relying on the old faithful redbars when you end up healing for randoms that are not team-mates.

The fun thing is that I am really enjoying the profession now, which is something I never would have guessed. I struggle to keep my cool still, and I'm still making noobish mistakes but I think that maybe - just maybe, it's starting to sink in. Still, I've a lot of improving to do.

Back to lurking the Monk forum and Observer Mode, I guess.

Oh, and just 'cause I like pictures - my pve monksauce: (yeah, compression killed that picture alright...oops)

A quick way to learn prot (hard though): turn off your party bar. Difficult, but incredibly fun when done right.

For the rest, yay monks, keep at it they're the most awesome profession in Guild Wars.

I try not to rely on the party box already - I use it in AB to find my group again if we get split up (vast majority of the time, they won't call what cap point they are at if we do end up at opposite ends of the map). I try to watch where and who they are moving to and prot accordingly. I keep forgetting to prot myself though, duurrr.

I'm totally hooked though. Is there anything they can't do? And getting a party is so easy now, haha.

Monks won't cook you breakfast in the morning. Believe me, I've tried. Left gw running overnight and the lazy brat was just standing there staring at me.

    Friggin' monks.

Protip: look at the compass like it's a rearview mirror. It will always always always be worth it.

Like last night when I got lolganked because I didn't see another team coming up behind us. :C
