Doing my own little victory dance etc.
Rundown of how my vqing went:
Talmark Wilderness: Easy, except for the fire imps. It really is pretty in here.
Majesty's Rest: I didn't set up a team for Rotscale, so predictably, I did a terrible job. When he was finally dead, we limped away at 60% DP (mostly) and finished the vanquish.
Snake Dance, Dreadnought's Drift and Lornar's Pass: Snake Dance is a large but sparsely populated area. It went just fine. The next area was alright, too. Not really big and with pulling the dwarves were not problematic. Lornar's Pass was pretty bad, the size of some of the groups, especially grawl, was brutal. All in all though, it went OK.
Talus Chute: It was horribly boring. It was huge and long and aishdfhdsjjk. Yep. I managed to find the end of the world for extra mapping points. And a single patrol eluded me for an extra 15 mins.
Ice Floe: yeah. no. go away. I hate you. The size of the groups was just obnoxious and most of them seemed to be made of two E-surge mesmers, two monks and three or four warriors. It really hurt, but I finished OK. Also, a patrol eluded me for about 15 mins.
Frozen Forest, Ice Dome: Some of the stone summit were crammed in, but I managed OK. Pulling helps. Icedome was short and sweet and not too bad. did you know I have never actually set foot inside the Ice Dome before that day? Crazy! I think I actually had a runner take me to Granite Citadel, back in the day.
Grenth's Footprint: Not too bad. A warrior boss blessed me with a green hammer. And my hubby did 1/3 of the zone for me just for kicks. (I had a terrible migraine.)
Spearhead Peak: I like high mountains. Anyways, it was easy.
Tasca's Demise and Mineral Springs: Tasca's Demise had some clumped in Stone Summit that wiped me, but the rest of it went smoothly. I almost infused another armor set, but I forgot to change into it when I handed the essence to the Seer. ಠ_ಠ Then it wouldn't infuse it for me. So mean.
Perdition Rock: Surprisingly, survived with zero wipes. This zone is just kinda...I dunno. It's weird. It has the spooky music and lava and stuff and I get memories of capping skills in a PUG. The days when both the monk and the wammo were after Healing Hands! Fantastic.
So yeaaaaah! I'm finished! Never doing another vanquish again.
I started with cartographer right away after that.
I mapped the area behind Dunes of Despair, by using a trick to teleport the ghostly hero. I had 10 mintutes to explore and it took me two tries, but no Necrotic Traversal tricks were required.
I did the trick with Frost Gate, though. I also explored the extra areas of The Great Northern Wall. Then I went into Riverside Province and D'Allesio Seaboard, their explorable versions that is, and scraped them quite thoroughly.
Then I started scraping whatever I was missing in Ascalon. (Surmia, Nolani, Ranik, bits of Easter Frontier, Ascalon Foothills and Diessa Lowlands)
Then I did the Northern Shiverpeaks. (Borlis Pass, Anvil Rock, Deldrimor Bowl.)
Then Kryta. I scraped mostly the northern edge of the map: North Kryta Province, Nebo Terrace and Watchtower Coast. And Divinity Coast. (I almost wrote Divinity's Reach...haha.) Also had a huge section missing in Gates of Kryta.
Then I scraped Thunderhead Keep and The Wilds. (lotsa .1 percents there!) Then I scraped some random outposts.
Then I scraped Hell's Precipice which was horrible. Buffed Mind Burn was just atrocious, I had to take a Soul Twisting Rit and go slowly. I ended up at 99.9%. There was a huge chunk in the Abbadon's mouth mission, but I said screw it, I'm not going all the way to the freaking end. I went into Thirsty River, where the Legendary Cartographer message finally popped up on my screen.
All in all, it's not as tedious as I expected. Nightfall was far worse. I had almost everything perfectly scraped and I still had to resort to portal jumping glitches and other shenanigans. In Tyria, I was lucky, because I had all these extra bits of a percent unlocked from when the old arenas existed. There's Fort Koga, the old Battle Isles which were off the coast of LA, and I recall a certain map in Random Arenas - the one that looks like the Fire Islands and has res shrines - just south of Ember Light Camp. So that helped. Also, I would say a larger portion of the storyline takes place before level 20 than not, so those areas were breezy to scrape.
Hell's Precipice was horrible, but let's not get into that. :p
So yeah! That makes all the achievement titles. I'm not sure if it is possible for me to make GWAMM at this point. I would need either the Kurzick title (can't make the grind in such a time) or three consumable based titles. I have 2000, 1000, and 900-ish points in Drunkard, Party Animal and Sweet Tooth titles respectively. I don't have enough gold to purchase all of them. Maybe one. Maybe one and a bit of one if I sell all the ecto I've been saving up for Obsidian armor and all my gold Zaishen coins.
Well, if I don't make it, I can always add to it after GW2's release. If there will be events and stuff to do still. We'll see.
