Will a boss only drop thier unique item for you if you're the same profession as them?

Like as a ranger/assassin wouldn't get a green item off a necromancer boss, but a necro/any would?

correct me if im wrong, but arent the friend keys only good for the factions preview event on march 24th, which is long since over? (quoting the guildwars page here)
